Has Axar Patel been seen lately?! Don't think he was involved in any of the white ball games for India and presumably isn't in the test squad. If that is the case I wonder if he will join us earlier than expected and replace Tahir in the T20's before taking over from Latham in the Champuonship,

westoelad wrote:Only Latham looked capable of withstanding their attack and he was pure class. One of the best knocks i've seen from a Durham batsman.

I wonder if that might be ominous ( unless he gets 250!) On paper their attack looks modest but if everyone but him was troubled by them it does not bode well for a successful 4th innings run chase.

Wood might have a key role to play with the bat tomorrow and he is a very unpredictable batter. Seem to remember a game a couple of years ago ( think it was either against Sussex or Notts ) where he came in at 3 as a night watchman in both innings after the inevitable early wicket. Think he was out straight away in the first knock and then came out in the second innings and inexplicably was throwing the bat at everything and could have been out about 4 times...then the next day he played a perfectly sensible innings, registered a half century and the game was effectively won by the time he got out.

Then again if the skipper goes early in the morning I think we'll be doomed regardless of what Woody and his horse can do.

Just realized the real reason why he's missing- otherwise engaged at Cheltenham race course.

Cricket tedious on both days to be honest -apart from Latham

Hope it picks up on the final two days so you get to see a good finish...and a Durham win!

Poynter out early this morning and now Wood has run himself out. A suicidal single that was never on according to Martin Emmerson.
He needs to redeem himself with the ball - the defecit is still over 100. Must get at least another 50 somehow but numbers 10 & 11 won't last long!

Handy spurt of runs for the last wicket from Latham.

Latham must be seeing it like a basketball by now. Maybe get this down to 50 if Rushworth can stonewall.

NO! Out for 147.

Yep. 87 run deficit on first innings so it'll now require an exemplary bowling and fielding performance. Possible as the Gloucs lineup looks potentially vulnerable.
Wouldn't back us to get 200 plus in the first innings unless Latham gets half of them or Stokes remembers how to bat! Those two and Will Smith.

Could do with 3 or 4 before lunch ( or 10!) or at the very least ensure they don't get off to a flying start.

15/2. If they could only bowl properly in the first innings instead of waiting until it's an absolute crisis.

Scoring at 6 an over definitely isn't what's required. Attacking fields no doubt and searching for wickets but if they're going to bat aggressively let them try it against Wood & Stokes.

50-2 at lunch. The next session really is the last chance saloon imo. Latham has to find a way to take wickets whilst also keeping the runs down. Easier said than done!

They're not taking wickets but are going for too many runs. :facepalm Into the 17th over and no sign of Wood.
