Couldn't have gone much worse. Have to hope the track is an old fashioned sticky dog.

I only saw the last wicket but apparently the pitch is bowler friendly but not as much as the score suggests. Only saving grace is Kent had a couple of batting disasters of their own last week so they might capitulate again.
Apparently Steel was down to open with Smith at 3.

Good start. Bell-Drummond gone to Rushy for a duck.

This looks like being a disaster. Rushworth looked dangerous for a few overs but Rimmington looked innocuous and Rushy stopped threatening. Now the change bowlers are bowling erratically...or hopelessly. Deficit is 32.
Apart from that it's all going pretty well.

Yep. I suppose they have an excuse because they've had virtually no pre season match practice. As I type Dickson is out to Potts for 41. Now for another 8 quick wickets!

The strike bowler ( Colly ) has struck in first over.

And now Rimmington has a wicket! 80-4.

I saw JJB on Look North last night and, when asked if he was hopeful for the season, he said that he was and that, on the eve of a new season with the sun shining, anyone who wasn't optimistic or looking forward to the new season was probably in the wrong job.

well, he was right on 2 counts..... he should be hopeful............ and he's probably in the wrong job

I wonder how optimistic he was half an hour into a 5 month season?

91 ao by lunch on day 1 on a glorious day with the sun shining down?

seems a shame to not crack on in the garden, given the alternative

Kent employed a cunning plan by bringing in a threatening bowler. Not fair!

This'll probably put the mockers on but the bowlers look more threatening of late. Bad news is Darren Stevens is in now and Kent are in the lead.

Tea. Kent with a 21 run lead and 6 wickets in hand. Think it's safe to say we need a great final session or this game could be gone.
Just had a chat with a spectator who has devised a formula to work out our runs per innings score - Add 80 to the runs scored by Colly and Markram!
