Typical. Dubious lbw decision got Smith out according to Martin Emmerson.

Latham and Clark are in good form, atm. Stokes is quality. We have to get full value from these three, because I fear for the rest (apart from one lower order stand later).

I agree, potentially a long tail with Poynter at 7 and Wood 8 - especially as the latter has some sort of foot injury.

I always have a feeling Stokes will either be out straight away or make a really big score. I can't remember the last time he made any runs for us in 4 day cricket so he's certainly due.

I'd forgotten about him. No Rimmo either and Rushy at 10 suggests Harding can't bat!

and no Jimmy the Weighell

scrub what I said about the late order stand, it's just up to this two and Stokes

so no pressure.......

And the other worry is batting 4th could be very tricky so any significant deficit on first innings could be disastrous.

Clark out now. 88/3!

Ben Stokes is on a strike rate of 4 atm :o

batting must be tricky

which begs the question..... how did Gloucs manage to score that many?

I think we probably know the answer to that

Yeah, first innings bowling has been awful this season. Inexplicably poor. I know Wood was missing but it's not as if we were up aside a top class batting lineup. Higgins with FC average in the early 20's and a top score of 63 or something getting a hundred was all too typical.

Looking at the table and Gloucs are 2nd bottom. One of only two sides to have fewer batting points than us ( they have 6, so do Kent, we have 7) but getting their highest first innings score of the season isn't surprising because we have the fewest bowling points in the division - 14!
