Some of our lot seem to bowl too short to me. If the ball is moving around they should surely pitch it up more, this afternoon Potts was bowling boundary balls , so too was Weighell.

they learn that watching England bowl

 Yep. The influence is definitely there. Bowling medium pace and too short!

I'll be amazed if there is any cricket to go and watch at 4pm tomorrow

I can't see a mention of prices in the book but think it will still be the £5 after tea price. Probably best to ring and check just to confirm.

According to Andrew Samson ( stats man on Test Match Special ) Markram " is the first player to make a pair on his first day of County Championship cricket."

Not as queasy as me when I saw the scorecard.

I read somewhere that addicted gamblers are not motivated to continue gambling by the thrill of maybe winning, but are actually driven by the thrill of losing.... and the bigger the amount, the less able they are to afford it, and the greater the prospect of it ruining their lives, the better the thrill of losing is.

I confess my initial reaction to this was that it was clearly ridiculous, but perhaps it isn't as daft as it seems. I have noticed that whenever Durham perform badly, my post count goes up, far more so than when they do well. On days when they get blown away for a humiliating total, my post count goes through the roof, so I must be really enjoying myself.

I must remember to thank the boys later

The innings defeat seems guaranteed and it's just a question of if it comes before or after lunch. If it's before we might be asking Andrew Samson how many teams have been beaten by an innings before lunch on day 2 of a CC game.
Either this disaster is a fluke or a sign of things to come - I suspect it's a bit of both.

Another stat coming? Lowest total to force an innings win?

Imagine scoring 169 and winning by an innings

Looking at that top 7, how many of them apart from Colly and Markram have a track record of really scoring runs at FC level? The rest are either rookies or have records that suggest they will not score 1000 plus runs and average over 40.
Thing is the bowling is similar Rushworth has a stellar record but seems to be on the wane and the rest of them are usually either injured or modest performers at best.
It's why it seemed obvious that , in addition to the signings we made , it was essential to bring in a bowler and a batsman with stats that suggest they are outstanding FC cricketers.
A mixture of good solid pros and rookies will not work imo.

What makes this even worse is the night watchman is not out and has scored about half of the runs!
