Looks like he and Weighell will take Durham past the follow on.

In a way it'd be a shame. A catastrophic performance like this deserves a memorable end - innings defeat before lunch on day 2!

Nice little hundred lead and it's game on again.

Heaven, I'm in heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
with the very worst performance of the week

I think the lower order are pretty handy with the bat, if only one of the top 7 could have made a half decent score in either innings.

two 5fers for Henry

who would have ever thought that a devastating overseas fast bowler might be the way to go when pondering which player to sign for 4 matches right at the start of the season?

Personally I'd have thought that an opening batsman was probably the way to go

well, he was right on 2 counts..... he should be hopeful............ and he's probably in the wrong job

I wonder how optimistic he was half an hour into a 5 month season?

worth repeating, I think

it's not as if the same thing happened last year to point him in the right direction, so I'm probably being excessively harsh

Look on the bright side - we've found a proper number 3 batsman , Potts.
Seriously though , apart from Steel and possibly Carse we are playing the first choice 11 ( ignoring the two at the IPL ) and yet it looks very fragile. What gave Lewis grounds for optimism is a mystery - we look as weak a squad as I can remember.

well... in fairness when it hasn't happened yet, anything is possible.

Hey.... we might turn out to be a white ball powerhouse this year

Lunch report from the Durham CCC Twitter account :
The first session really didn't go to plan
A lead of 30 with 2 wickets in hand at the break

Indeed.
