westoelad wrote:Reliable poster on RTG claiming Potts is out long term with a stress fracture of the back. If true we're, with McCarthy, down to our last 4 fit bowlers already.

That would be disastrous. All too predictable though because we know all of those bowlers ( apart from Rushy and hopefully Rimmington ) have a track record of getting injured so not significantly strengthening the bowling squad was asking for trouble. Might have to get Colly to do a Darren Stevens and open the bowling. :horse
And it'll mean more work for the other bowlers so at least one of them will probably break down. And Lewis has this injury prone group playing all 3 formats!

Killeen and Thorp are both about the same age as Darren Stevens and were both amongst the wickets on Saturday! And all 3 about the same pace. :hide

I don't mind it, tbh. what happened on Fri and Sat morning is completely unacceptable and the players need to be given the chance to redeem themselves or it could easily happen again on Friday. If they don't redeem themselves and get some middle time in ahead of the next CC match, then that's down to them.

I wonder if Markram has it written in his contract that he ain't here to play club cricket? I wouldn't be surprised

They had 2 days+ remaining on a 4 day pitch to have meaningful practise playing with a red ball. That would surely be more useful than a white ball game against 2nd XI opposition for both bowlers and batsmen.

I'd have thought so. And that would avoid the possibility of an embarrassing fiasco-if they get rolled over by 2nd X1 bowlers it'll not exactly help their confidence- and I bet the pitch ( and Sod's law ) mean that a disaster is on the cards!
Either that or they'll come out all guns blazing and play every shot in the book and then get bowled out in double quick time against Northants playing recklessly.

Leicestershire seconds won the toss and are batting -that's from their Twitter account. No mention yet of the game on the Durham account so no clue as to who is playing for us.

Leicestershire Twitter is supposed to be providing updates but they haven't so far - maybe we haven't taken a wicket yet!
