if we can have 10 ball overs, then anything may be possible if there is the will to do it

Three divisions has been mentioned before but some sort of conference system seems to be the new favourite!

And back at the Riverside the wicket keeper Davies has gone for a duck.

All of today's games are either abandoned for the day or currently have play suspended due to rain. Naturally it's ideal cricketing weather in Chester-Le-Street but I bet that's not the case when the next home game starts!

In which case why are we trialling another w/k. I wonder who makes these decisions?

I presume that either Richo doesn't want the gloves, or management don't want him to, in which case we perhaps feel that we need cover if Poynter goes off to play for Ireland

although why Ireland would want him is beyond me

I think it also highlights the weakness in the squad. Leave one out ( and it'd would be Poynter for me who is at best a number 8 imo ) and the alternative middle order batsmen are probably Pringle or Harte. It's why I think we needed to bring in at least one more experienced batsman and then have Richardson at 7. The lower order looks pretty handy to me but who apart from Colly in this batting lineup has a track record that inspires confidence ? The overseas players do but that's it. And if the top order gets blown away regularly there's little chance of that middle/lower order rescuing things.

Leicestershire seconds need about 100 from the last 10 overs to win...

And they surely aren't going to get them. Never in doubt. :D

Thrilling finish. Leics 11 required 12 off last over but Harding restricted them to 4 taking 2 wickets. Match drawn.

Very dramatic! Must have been some rapid scoring going on. High scoring game so could well have been a short boundary.

Day 2 rained off! Very annoying, we'd expect to win this 99 times out of 100 but it looks certain to be a draw now.

From DCC C
"With water splashing up around the umpires’ ankles on their first inspection at around 9:30am, the decision was taken to abandon play for the second straight day.

More rain is forecasted to fall into the afternoon & although the forecast is slightly improved for tomorrow, a yellow warning for rain is in force for Monday, meaning the prospect of any result is very slim at best."
Might as well come home now. Needs at least a day of perfect drying conditions for any play and that's not going to happen.

Yep. Horrific forecast.
