121 all out!
I'm going to the ground this afternoon but won't be there until around tea. I dread to think what the score will be.

It's a miracle. There's bound to be a collapse at some stage but hopefully not before we get a good lead.
Pitch is towards the pavilion so a short boundary.

Interesting bit of trivia! Ethan Bamber, bowling now , is the son of an actor who played Hitler opposite Tom Cruise in Valkyrie.

And nearly a run out with Harte faffing around.

Off the mark thankfully so it won't be the dreaded pair to finish with. 50 for Harte. 152/3.

Colly given out lbw for 32. Didn't look best pleased.

Lead is over 100 with 5 wickets left and quite a few deliveries caused problems this afternoon so there must be a reasonable chance that will be his last innings.
O'Shaughnessy's untimely intervention will see him off Colly's Christmas card list!

Special members forum with Colly at the close of play tomorrow. By the sound of it it's simply going to be a look back over his great career, but maybe there will be a hint of his future plans.

I drove down from Lumley this afternoon, and I glanced at the scoreboard as I went over the blue bridge. It was hard to tell but it looked like a hundred and something for 2 or 3 and my first thought was that we'd been put in, skittled, and this was the Middlesex reply. I was amazed when I got in tonight to find that Middlesex had won a toss and opted to bat first

Are they mad?

Did they not do even the most basic bit of homework ahead of the game

Crackers!

I always knew that Colly would end his career given out LBW, btw, leaving him angry at the umpire. I bet he gave the official a furious look

Paddington gave him a hard stare

Apparently they thought the pitch would get progressively worse for batting! According to Martin Emmerson there was uneven bounce this morning, and it was still there at times this afternoon - Richo getting out lbw attempting to play a pull shot was another great comedic moment.
After the Middle had been shot out I fully expected another clatter of wickets and almost didn't dare look at the score board when I got there in mid-afternoon - I was astonished to see we were only 2 down. And almost as surprised when Richo and Harte looked reasonably in control. Colly looked in the zone - one let off when an edge felled one of the slips who had to go off but luckily seemed OK - but he was playing very nicely until the umpire intervened.

Funnily enough the finger stayed down long enough for him to turn his back and go back into the crease ...and then up it went! He was not happy at all but, as you say , a familiar end to an innings. Maybe it was out but the strength of the appeal and the time it took to give out suggested to me it was a poor decision. Then again I was willing it not to be out.
Maybe Colly will have one more innings.
