Pitch has gone flat. I've been here for 90 mins and can't recall a single appeal!

ah well.... Colly gets to have another go at being out LBW after a muted appeal, a long pause and after taking guard for the next ball

Yep. There's no sign of a wicket at all!

No sign of a wicket until Steel dropped a catch. :horse

At last a wicket. Poor shot from Eskinani on 96.

Colly said there was very little lateral movement today but thinks batting won't get easier towards the end of the game and anything 150/160 could be a tricky chase.

oh... they'll get a lot more than that, I reckon, with 2 days still to go

feels like a long time ago since Kent were in the top flight, yet I have a feeling that they have spent more consecutive seasons in div 1 than anyone, apart from us.

until they actually did go down, I have a feeling they had been the only club to have remained in div 1 since 'partition' (whenever that was)

did they go down the year we won our first title?

I think so. Unless they collapse against the new ball - Rushy has a sore back according to Colly so that might be a problem too.

I think you're right. They held the record and were relegated when we won the first title - think we beat them in the last game to win it and the defeat relegated them.

doesn't really matter, of course, with the season being dead, apart from giving Colly a winning send off, which will feel nice for him on Thursday and then be forgotten by him on Friday

unless he does a 'Cook'

but he won't, sadly

Yep. He did say he didn't want another guard of honour from the Middlesex players if he gets another innings!
He was quite relaxed about retiring, said it was the right time. After averaging 50 last year and having his best season he said he envisaged being like Jack Hobbs and going on and on ...then the first game of the season against Kent with the ball flying all over the place made him think it might not be quite that straightforward!
There was another funny bit when Emmerson asked him about his future plans and he paused before saying he'd had an offer from the BBC...Radio Newcastle were looking for a new cricket commentator!
Other thing he mentioned was that batsmen should be able to handle swing bowling but if the conditions are constantly causing lavish seam movement it could destroy the confidence of young batsmen.

This is slipping away from Durham a touch. Though it doesn't look like Durham will climb the table with a win.

Wood has just nicked one out and there's a new ball in half an hour so maybe the game will swing Durham's way.

It seems to be now. 4 wickets lost in 40 minutes.
