4 down at lunch with a 21 run lead. Should be in pole position but Wood has 3 wickets and already bowled 11 overs today and the other wicket was taken by Steel.
Can't have Woody bowling all afternoon so at least one of the other bowlers needs to step up- and I wouldn't count on that.

Looking like a lost cause. No wickets since Woody's spell.

2 quick wickets. 6 down and the lead is 92.

Unless the last 3 wickets go down quickly after tea this seems certain to be a draw. Wonder if Rimmington is still unwell and if Dixon is injured? Only 9 and 2 overs respectively in this innings. No bowling for Colly either.

Career best bowling for Wood (6/46) Fantastic effort.
Not for the first time though the last wicket partnership has almost certainly thwarted us.
Rimmington on now but for most of the day we seem to have been operating with Wood, Weighell and Steel.

Match drawn. Good effort after the horrific first innings bowling but I think a better attack would have won today - just not enough support for Wood.

I think that's because Colly quickly realised that both Rimmington and Dixon are useless.

Yep! And it's probably a fair assessment.

I think as long as we don't get rolled over, and if we can salvage a draw with lots of bonus points, that will do going into the one day stuff...... put the CC back in the box for a bit... try to get a few of our batsmen into a different mindset for a bit. It might just help them to relax a little.

If they can enjoy their cricket for a while, anything is possible, I suppose

couldn't force the win, then. Still....... I am happy with the above. Conceding 400 and then pushing Derby into having to dig in for the draw, is probably as good as we could have realistically hoped for

excellent stuff from Woody. Better than I thought he would do, tbh, after all that sitting on his @rse in India. Has he done enough for the England selectors? The purely selfish part of me hopes that he hasn't.

Article in the paper predicted he'd probably make the squad but miss out on the starting X1 to Chris Woakes.

Reckon Woody's certain to be in the test team. He's proved his fitness and form whereas Woakes hasn't played any red ball cricket. That's providing there's no fitness issues after today's efforts.

CC resumes 9th June -let's hope all our bowlers are fit by then. Otherwise, sack Nigel!

I'd forgotten that Woakes hasn't been playing County cricket , he's at the IPL?
