Don't let Dixon play in the next game!

I didn't leave early enough, seemingly..........

had they left Dixon until the last over, Derby might have been chasing 15 or 16 off the last over, and then the game is up for grabs for both sides... who has the nerve wins it......... by holding back the 2 most economical bowlers for the last 2 overs just gave them licence to have a dart and get themselves in a position where the 2 most economical bowlers had nothing to try and defend

It's schoolboy stuff, really

What is it with Durham and one day captains? It always seems to go disastrously wrong.

According to Lewis we should have made another 25 runs. He's probably right about that but we still should have won from the position we were in going into the final overs. Any bowler can have an expensive game defining over but I would not back this attack to win many tight games. In fact I'm not sure I'd back them to win any games at all!

Not only did Reece get a career best score despite batting with a runner throughout his innings , he was also dropped by Poynter before getting into double figures. :horse
I still can't understand Latham not opening, surely our best chance of posting a really good score ( or chasing the inevitable big total if we bowl first ) is if he has the opportunity to face the most deliveries.

I assume he'll be opening in the CC?

Yes, think he will be. Although with some of the strange lineups we've seen recently who knows for sure?!

Hey, we've had real value for our overseas this season so far-doubt if they've averaged 20 between them. :horse
Apparently Dixon has been on Lewis's radar for quite a while. Pity the hasn't realised Dixon's bowling radar wasn't working.

That probably means the one month loan deal will become a permanent one!

It could be interesting tomorrow at South Northumberland. I wonder how many Worcestershire will get if they bat first or how many we'll need if we bat first. Probably about 400!

We can't now qualify for the RL50 play offs so ideal opportunity to experiment. Davies is scoring a boatload of runs for the 2nds( 2 100s and 3 50's in 7 inns) and Salisbury a stack of wickets including a 6 fer and a 5 fer. There's also a leggie , Tim Whitehead ,who was discarded by the Academy but is getting wickets for Hetton Lyons and is better than any slow bowler we have. Logically nothing to lose by playing all 3 in remaining RL50 games. Unfortunately JJ doesn't do logic.

I agree. It would make sense to give those players opportunities ...so we probably won't. :horse

they won't want to end the campaign having lost all matches, and I support that, so they'll have to field their strongest XI (it also wouldn't be fair on the those teams who do have competition ambitions)

that could include starts for one of the younger players, but we still have senior squad players who haven't started yet.... overlooking them won't help either their development or their desire to be at the club

That's sound logic. I just think at some stage we need to look to the T20 and am sure the current first team will be hopeless so a few new faces might be required.
Hopefully they will prove me wrong!
