Looked it up - it was his last innings for Yorkshire and the highest individual FC innings at Headingley - 339! Previous record holder was Bradman (334) v England in 1930. Also the second highest for Yorkshire - George Hirst made 341 v Leics in 1905.
I remember being annoyed, because I think we went into that match knowing that a draw would keep both teams safe (might be goldfish memory time again), and so I thought the two teams would play out a draw... then he did that.... and it felt personal, somehow... as if he was deliberately doing his utmost to relegate us. thank goodness for Benks and Big Ottis
probably only me that felt that way, but then I never really liked Lehmann at the best of times
Ha.... it took a very different kind of vendetta to finally relegate us.... and Lehmann's true colours were shown to the world by the disgusting attitude of his players to other nations when he took charge of Australia......... breaking arms, ending careers, making people cry..... horrible man... he must have been encouraging it as an 'ethos'.... I refuse to believe otherwise
