Looks like Notts are going to roll over Lancs. Bit of an upset there.

Hardly an upset but must be a bit spicy. Lost 5wkts for 8 runs this morning.I
Yorkies are denying there's anything wrong with their drainage system. The fact that cricket has been played everywhere else in the country for the last few days suggests there is.Flooding where the new stand is being constructed apparently.

12 wkts falling for 25 runs at O.T. Surely the umpires should have been calling that wicket "unfit for 1st class cricket".

Even in Kanga league the whole team get used to get out for 25 runs at times as it was played in monsoon. So i am not surprised as it was also played during monsoon. But then the Kanga League schedule was changed after matches getting washed out and batting innings collapsing for obvious reasons. There was a thought given to it even though after many years of discussion. But then that was a club level tournament and more time could be wasted in decision making. Is it wise to waste so much time on taking an decision regarding an important tournament, especially during monsoon. Not at all. No board will keep their main tournaments in monsoon. Not only a fair understanding of talent becomes impossible due to such skewed conditions, nor is it financially viable to all stake holders.

12 wickets for 20 odd runs

thank goodness we play first class cricket at the appropriate time of year, otherwise some might suggest that it's a bit of a nonsense, and that the integrity of the game is being undermined..... which of course is not the case..... apparently

Strange how Barker looks human when he plays against anyone other than Durham.

Rancid weather since Monday tea time in Yorkshire prior to the County Championship opener, either rained or shrouded in fog. The wettest start to spring in 45 years and winter blasts from the North Sea coast has not allowed the pitch to dry out sufficiently.

Excess rainfall always backs onto the Rugby Stand end as the pitch slopes downwards, nowhere else to run off as the water tables are ridiculously high.

Yes if the water tables are high no drainage system is going to be effective. Weather was equally foul at the Riverside; they dig a ditch and drain the water back into the River Wear. Durham managed a full days play yesterday with the worst area roped off. They can manage that as they have a large pitch area.

Not a good week for the county championship, Nasser, KP and Vaughan playing down the county cricket this week and it looks like the selectors think playing in the ipl is higher than playing county cricket in april.
They seem to think Roy having a great IPL is more likely to get a test spot than Roy playing county cricket and think even Farbrace, Strauss and bayliss have given that impression as well.

1 Cricket Major
2019 IPL Season.
