A shame to lose another county stalwart.

I confess I thought he'd already retired

a very worthy, yet sometimes undervalued, cricketer

I thought the same but he has been injured all season so that's why there's been no sign of him.

I think Yorks v Hants tomorrow is now the battle for third rather than a relegation face off. Though Essex are in pole and face relegated WOrcs in the last match.

Yorks squad (Willey is still out).

Gary Ballance
Tim Bresnan
Harry Brook
Jack Brooks
Tom Kohler-Cadmore
Ben Coad
James Logan
Adam Lyth
Steven Patterson ©
Josh Poysden
Jeet Raval
Josh Shaw
Jonny Tattersall (WK)
Matthew Waite

The new SA pace bowler has vanished after one game. Root and Bairstow don't fancy a run out and who knows what Rashid's status is. Plunkett?

Seems to be nothing riding on these games in either division. Assuming Kent get enough points to go up, which they will (v Glamorgan).

What happened to Dom Bess? Not turning out for Somerset even though the game at Turnton.

Yorks not getting on the field yet at Headingley.

Essex look like wrapping up third place with Worcs losing six wickets.

Five wickets to Porter, and he got the run out too!

No Dale Steyn for Hants fortunately, but two early wickets nonetheless.

7-41 for Porter. 48 wickets in CC1, but some way behind Onions for the season.

Wonder if it's ever happened before that only one batter (Burns) has made 1000 runs for the season (Bell and Madsen might get there in CC2).

with the title gone, and everyone watching for a mass wicket tumble, it appears that the somerset groundsman has been instructed to leave the hand grenades in their box, this week

Bell passes 1,000 runs with a century as he and Trott roll back the years against Sussex.

might be the norm in the future, now that we still have 2 rounds of matches still to play when the Australian season starts

Late season bonanza for Tim, with a 5-fer against Hants.
