It's had a lot of press and most of us are against it, but bottom line do we think it will suceed and bring in new public?

I'm genuinely not sure a franchise model will work in the UK.

Regarding your comment on the Stokes thread about punishment- someone on twitter suggested a suitable one would be to put him in charge of PR for this new comp.

I did wonder briefly if the 100 was the number of punches needed to be thrown, for a charge of affray to stick

Feel torn in wanting it succeed to create the start of a path back for FTA in UK. But to fail because it's another stupid idea from the ECB. But irrespective of my feelings, I think it will fail because it doesn't meet a need that isn't already being satisfied.

and yet they are determined to do it, so they must think it will fly.
of course, they might also think that the franchise market for T20 has reached saturation point and that they've (once again) prevaricated their way towards missing the boat, and so are trying to invent something new that they hope to exploit (in a second string way) better than Australia once India take it over and dominate.
and all that is fair enough if they can make it fly.... but can they, or will it become a bit of a sideshow, ignored by the rest of the cricketing world?
Jury is out for me. It could be a brilliant idea and it could be a stupid idea

although that isn't strictly true.... it's probably a brilliant idea, that FTECB will handle stupidly

Struggling to think of any other new high profile sport 'innovation' that has had such a disastrous launch. It's been one bad news story after another! In this instance I don't think all publicity is good publicity.
