In Kingstown, Barbados beat the Windwards by 23 runs. Set 270 to win, the Windwards were bowled out for 246 all out by pacer Miguel Cummins (4-53) and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican (3-88). Kavem Hodge topscored with 66.

Finally, the PCL produced its first draw of the season! In Basseterre, the Leewards made 315-6 declared in their second innings, on the back of half-centuries by Devon Thomas (94) and Jahmar Hamilton (77). There were two wickets each for pacers Anderson Philip and Odean Smith. Set an unlikely target of 352, Trinidad were 236-4 when the match was called off. Joshua da Silva made 75 and Lendl Simmons 59, while offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall took two wickets.

Poor batting continued to plague the PCL, as the ninth round got underway yesterday. At Providence, medium-pacer Raymon Reifer took 5-20 to dismiss Barbados for an embarrassing 76 all out, number 11 Chemar Holder topscoring with 22. Reifer returned to hit 33 not out, to guide Guyana to 162-7 at stumps, supported by another 33 from Vishaul Singh. Part-time medium-pacer Jonathan Carter has taken three wickets to date.

In Kingston, veteran left-arm spinner Nikita Miller took 7-50 to bowl the Leewards out for 210 all out. Devon Thomas topscored with 65. At the close of the first day's play, Jamaica were 77-2.

In Roseau, Windwards pacer Sherman Lewis has taken three wickets so far to reduce Trinidad to 114-6, but unbeaten half-centuries from Imran Khan and Khary Pierre took the tourists to 254-6 at the close.

Unsurprisingly, Guyana were in command at the halfway stage of their match at Providence. Allrounder Raymon Reifer hit 52 not out to take Guyana to 201 all out, while part-timer medium-pacer Jonathan Carter took 4-52. Trailing by 125 on first innings, Barbados did better the next time around, reaching 228-6 at stumps in their second. Shane Moseley hit 64, while there were two wickets each for Reifer and Permaul so far.

On the second day's play at Sabina Park, Jamaica took a narrow 40-run lead over the Leewards on first innings. Brandon King hit 95, as Jamaica made 250 all out, while offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall took 6-57. The Leewards put up a better fight in their second innings, reaching 171-3 at stumps, thanks to half-centuries from Devon Thomas (65) and Kasey Carty (63 not out).

A total of 14 wickets fell on Day Two in Dominica, where Trinidad took command. Allrounders Khary Pierre made 106 not out and Imran Khan 71 to propel Trinidad to 307 all out, against pacer Sherman Lewis, who took 7-76. Legspinner Khan then snared 5-54 to dismiss the Windwards for 200 all out, Roland Cato topscoring with 46.

There was more disappointing batting in the PCL, as two matches finished within three days.

At Providence, defending champions Guyana beat Barbados by seven wickets. Medium-pacer Raymon Reifer took 4-22 and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul 4-62 to dismiss Barbados for 238 all out. Set a paltry 114 to win, Guyana chased down the target for the loss of three wickets, Chandrapaul Hemraj hitting 51, and pacer Shamar Springer taking 3-29.

At Sabina Park, the Leewards beat Jamaica by 134 runs. Half-centuries from Kasey Carty (68), Rahkeem Cornwall (52) and, finally after a long, wretched run of low scores, Kieran Powell (54), carried the Leewards to 312 all out in their second innings, against veteran left-arm spinner Nikita Miller (4-95), Gordon Bryan (3-65) and Akim Frazer (3-82). Pacer Sheno Berridge then took 4-40, and there were two wickets each for spinners Cornwall, Damion Jacobs and Terrence Ward, as they dismissed Jamaica for 138 all out.

In Roseau, on the penultimate day, there was one of those rare occurrences in the PCL - a declaration! Wicketkeeper and captain Denesh Ramdin made 57, and there were 40s from Jeremy Solozano and Tion Webster, as Trinidad made 244-8 declared against Kavem Hodge's 6-68. The Windwards have been set an unlikely 352 to win on today's final day.

The standard of batting went from bad to worse in the tenth round of the PCL.

At Providence, a total of 22 wickets fell on the first day's play alone! Pacer Romario Shepherd took 5-24 to dismiss Trinidad for a paltry 120 all out, allrounder Imran Khan topscoring with 37. Wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble then hit 62 to take Guyana to a marginally better 165 all out, the damage done by pacers Dennis St Clair (3-29) and Odean Smith (3-37). Trailing by 45 runs on first innings, Trinidad were 17-2 in their second innings going into today's second day.

At North Sound, 14 wickets fell on the opening day. Pacers Sheno Berridge (4-34) and Alzarri Joseph (3-36) dismissed the Windwards for 200 all out, Sunil Ambris topscoring with 92. Devon Thomas hit 63 not out to guide the Leewards to 132-4 at stumps, while part-timer Alick Athanaze has taken two wickets to date.

In Kingston, pacer Marquino Mindley has taken three wickets to date, to reduce Jamaica to 27-5, but half-centuries from Nkrumah Bonner (97) and Paul Palmer (66) enabled Jamaica to recover to 218-7 at the close of the first day's play.

Batting was slightly better on the second day's play in the day-night game at Providence, as Trinidad made 206 all out in their second innings, allrounder Khary Pierre topscoring with 30. Pacer Romario Shepherd took 3-52, and there were two wickets each for medium-pacer Raymon Reifer and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul. Chasing a tricky target of 162 to win, defending champions Guyana were 69-2 going into today's third day.

At the Viv Richards stadium, a total of 11 wickets fell on the second day's play, as the Leewards took a 61-run lead on first innings. There were half-centuries from veteran Devon Thomas (69) and wicketkeeper Jason Peters (59) as the Leewards made 261 all out in their first innings. Ray Jordan took 3-40 for the Windwards. In their second innings, the Windwards limped to 91-5 at the halfway stage of the match. Pacer Alzarri Joseph has taken four wickets in the second innings to date.

At Sabina Park, pacers Marquino Mindley (3-36) and Miguel Cummins (3-37) bowled Jamaica out for 250 all out. At stumps on the second day, Barbados closed on 233-5, led by half-centuries from Kraigg Brathwaite (57) and Jonathan Carter (68 not out). Pacer Derval Green and left-arm spinner Nikita Miller have taken two wickets each for Jamaica so far.

Two of the three matches ended in three days.

At Providence, Guyana won the PCL once more, with a six-wicket win over Trinidad. Captain Leon Johnson led the way with 76, as Guyana made 163-4.

In Antigua, the Leewards also beat the Windwards by six wickets. Pacer Alzarri Joseph took 5-66 to dismiss the Windwards for 226 all out, Audley Alexander topscoring with 50 not out. Set a target of 166 to win, the Leewards chased it down for the loss of four wickets, led by a knock of 117 not out from veteran Devon Thomas. Pacer Sherman Lewis took 3-19.

The match in Kingston was the only one to last four days, and Barbados squeezed a victory by two wickets. In their first innings, Barbados made 311-9 declared, on the back of a knock of 91 from Jonathan Carter. Pacer Derval Green took 3-45 and left-arm spinner Nikita Miller 3-63. Trailing by 61 on first innings, Jamaica could only manage 218 all out in the second, Brandon King topscoring with 46. Part-time spinner Roston Chase took 5-63 and pacer Keon Harding 4-80. Set a paltry target of 158, Barbados struggled home for the loss of eight wickets. Shamar Brooks made 71, while spinners Miller (3-43) and Akim Frazer (3-53) did most damage for Jamaica.

The PCL descended into farce at the Viv Richards stadium yesterday, as captain Rahkeem Cornwall declared in a losing position in an attempt to deny Barbados bowling points.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... -bad-maths

A bizarre declaration from Leeward Islands to lose a match in an apparent attempt to deny their opposition Barbados the chance to build enough bonus points to overtake them in the WICB Regional Four-Day Tournament, has backfired with Barbados securing second place.

Whatever calculations took place from Leeward Islands, who were captained by Rahkeem Cornwall, did not work as the result was enough to put Barbados into second place by just 0.2 points with 17.4 points and end with 134.2, which proved to be just enough to overtake Leeward Islands, who collected 2.8 points from the match and ended with 134.

On the second day's play, Shamarh Brooks made 82 as Barbados declared on 191-8, to deny the Leewards some bowling points. Pacer Alzarri Joseph took 4-28 and offspinner Cornwall 3-86. But the Leewards went one better, declaring on a ridiculous 83-2, meaning that Barbados won by an innings and 18 runs. Montcin Hodge finished on 40 not out.

There was far more sensible fare at the Brian Lara stadium, where the match was still in the balance at the half-way stage. Veteran Jason Mohammed hit 94 as Trinidad made 389 all out, pacer Nicholson Gordon taking 7-70. At stumps, Jamaica were 282-6, thanks to half-centuries from Jermaine Blackwood (66) and Brandon King (59). Pacers Shannon Gabriel and Anderson Philip have taken two wickets each so far.

In their second innings, Trinidad reached 289-9 at stumps, led by an unbeaten century by veteran Jason Mohammed. As the PCL came to an end at the Brian Lara stadium yesterday, Trinidad beat Jamaica by 85 runs. Veteran Jason Mohammed hit 110 not out to take Trinidad to 295 all out in their second innings, against Akim Frazer (3-56) and Jermaine Blackwood (3-39). Chasing an unlikely 338 for victory, Jamaica were bowled out for 252 all out by pacer Odean Smith (3-56) and legspinner Imran Khan (3-48). Brandon King hit 133, but there was not much else from the Jamaica batting.

Guyana - 154.2 points
Barbados 134.2 points
Leewards - 134 points
Trinidad - 112.4 points
Jamaica - 97.2 points
