Another day for the bowlers as KZNI's Ruhan Pretorius got 3 wickets to add to his two from yesterday - however he could not prevent his side sliding to a 66 run first innings deficit. KZNI finished the day on 118/2 with the draw looking most likely on the final day.

In the other game, a century for Muhammed Mayet saw Gauteng save themselves from 21-4 overnight to eventually be all out for 211 - a mere 21 run deficit. Border reached 173 for the loss of seven wickets - a 194 run lead. Lamentably a draw seems the most likely - however Gauteng could pull something off.

As expected both of these games ended in a draw, but they got damned close to a result in both instances.

Easterns got to within 100 runs of the victory thanks to 66* from Wesley Marshall as KZNI set them a mere 121 to win.

It was even tighter for Gauteng. Seemingly high and dry at the end of Day 1 - they got to within 16 runs of overturning Border. It was Joshua Dodd that Border will have to thank for the draw as he got 7-67 to add to his four-fer in the first innings.

Easterns still top the overall table - 2 points ahead of Gauteng. KZIN are in 5th with Border in 6th.

Two strong performances, notably Kagiso Mohale's 66*, spared the blushes for Northern Cape as they saved themselves from some perilous situations to finish the day 184-7 against KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, a 122 from Patrick Botha saw Free State to 326 in Bloemfontein. Eastern Province were then diminished to 34/6 as FS give themselves a very good chance of a win to overtake their rivals.

Poor weather meant only 12 overs were played in the game between Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. That allowed Kagiso Moshale the 49 runs he needed to get to his century. On reaching 235, NC declared, however there was only a further 2.4 overs possible before bad light. KZN ended the day on 9-0.

Bit of a piecemeal day in the other game too with Eastern Province only managing 102 in the first innings. As so often happens, EP improved exponentially in the follow on innings. Matthew Christensen, who got just 8 in the first innings, stands on 69* overnight in the second. They are now 161-3 but are still 63 runs behind. The game lost almost two hours to load-shedding.

2 draws.

The Northern Cape v KwaZulu-Natal game was always going to be a draw. A big first innings plus a lot of rain meant today was just going to be batting practice for KZN. Michael Erlank took full advantage of this and got a half century in his teams journey to 208-5.

In the other game, Eastern Province played for the draw. After conceding a huge first innings deficit, EP would have seen a draw as a decent result. The overnight pair plodded along for 22 overs for the gain of 36 runs before being separated. Tian Koekemoer was the star of the day with 80 for EP - who reached a rather impressive 303-6.

Eastern Province still top the overall table.

Bottom of the table Boland are up against third placed Free State this week.

Day One was relatively even. Kyle Simmonds championed with the ball as he got four wickets - however his economy of 128 shows that Free State made a decent fist of the batting. They finished on 329 with three players getting over 50 but no one pushing on to a ton.

Boland finished the day on 26-1.

The Boland first innings went the same way as the Free State one from yesterday. Some big first innings performances but no centuries. Tshepo Ntuli got the most wickets with four but for an eye-watering 122 runs.

Boland were all out for 375 - a lead of 46.

In the 10 overs of Free States' second innings they managed to disgrace themselves rather and ended Day Two on 4-3. Some hope for Boland going into the final day.

In the Eastern derby, Luvuyo Adam caught the eye with 5-38 as Eastern Province racked up a huge 232 run lead against Easterns. In their second innings they finished on 88-4 and might declare early on the final day.

Boland took their chances on the final day and claimed their first win of the season.

Despite a score of 65* from Romano Terblanche, Free State could only post 179 in their first innings - meaning that Boland needed 134 to win. They polished that off in 37 overs.

The final of the competition started today with the leaders of Pool A - Eastern Province - take on the leaders of Pool B - Northerns.

EP won the toss and elected to bat. Despite early wickets that saw them 3-1 and 59-3, they will be pleased getting to stumps at 275-5.

They have Tian Koekemoer to thank for this as he reached 102* over night. He has been in good form in this tournament and has been very reliable for half centuries but has upped his game when it matters.

Despite Northerns' Alfred Mothoa getting all five EP wickets needed today to take his figures to a career best 7-115, it is EP's game to lose as they took 4 early wickets to lead by 394 runs going into the final day.

If they win on the first innings score they will take the title.
