CSA Provincal One Day Challenge

Postby The Professor » Sun Feb 10, 2019 10:31 pm

In a system that I have thought the ECB should return to, the One Day games in South Africa take place on the Sunday directly after their corresponding 3-Day fixtures.

Boland reversed the 3-Day result by beating Eastern Province in a rain hit game. Jade De Klerk impressed for EP but the Boland bowlers did enough to limit the Eastern batsmen in the 22 overs they managed of their innings.

Meanwhile, Diego Rosier's century was enough to see Northerns beat Easterns by 19 runs.

An absolute corker of a game this evening saw Cape Cobras beat the Lions despite a century from Dominic Hendricks. Thats back to back centuries now for him.

The two teams were tied in the table at the start of the game but the Cobras have moved into 4th place after 6 games.

Two decent games today.

Ryan Rickleton carried his bat with 77* as Gauteng overpowered a below par Border total.

Meanwhile a stonking 122 ball 155 from Northerns' Leus de Plooy was the difference as they edged Western Province out by ten runs.

Free State edged a thrilling encounter by 1 run against Boland in the highlight of today's games.

Hanco Olivier's 119 spearheaded FS's 281-4 before his bowling colleagues managed to keep Boland one run off the total.

Easterns beat Northerns in the final.

Despite a stand out display from Northens' Leus de Plooy (85*), Easterns overturned their target of 276 with 19 balls remaining.

It is the first time Easterns have won the competition.
