I think they only scored about 50 runs in the entire morning session, such was their application. By the afternoon (as the capt correctly predicted) they were able to fill their boots against a soft ball and tiring bowlers. Our bowling economies jumped from around the 1 or 2 mark in the morning to 3's by the end of the afternoon. A demonstration if we ever needed one (and boy do we need one), on how to give yourself the best chance of compiling a competitive total.
We need a sweep stake on how many wickets we are likely to lose before we get into a lead. 5 doesn't seem to be beyond the realm of possibility
