Good news is he has a top score of 29 in FC cricket. Bad news is he has the record for the longest duck in test cricket - 45 balls and 95 minutes against India a few weeks ago.
So he must know how to hang around- unless that innings was a total fluke. If he stays in while runs flow at the other end it could be a problem.
Suppose the question is - will 29 still be his top score after this innings is completed?

perhaps it's as simple as playing cricket in the autumn instead of the summer.

This would be a good time of year to play the Hundred....... shorter matches, under lights, lots of running around to combat the cold.

Oh, it's that Cummins who hung around for ages while Roach, or Holder, or somebody scored a load of runs.... Rushy will fettle him, have no fear :scared

Seconds playing Leicestershire at the Riverside and there was a 226 partnership for the 7th wicket after a top order collapse.
Amazingly though it was in our innings! Weighell and Potts both making centuries.

well done them

nothing for Clark on day one

3 years ago no-one could understand why he was even in the side. 2 years ago he was looking as though he could become a decent player after all. Last year he was one of many who underwhelmed, but at least had a really good T20 campaign. This year he's gone full circle and is back leaving everyone scratching their heads wondering why he's even in the squad

It's a pity, really

Me??? Blow by blow!!?? "a poor pitch or just poor batting agsinst good bowlers". Come on gang, I know nothing about pitches or good v bad choice of shot!
I'd say two decent bowling attacks and two fragile batting lineups. Middlesex have had problems with their batting rather like us. And late season conditions- sunny and warmish then cool and cloudy tending to favor the bowlers. So who can collapse least cheaply!
The bowling change seemed to unsettle our openers. I found watching Robson really difficult, I'd rather watch Trevaskis - and I don't like watching him! Robson gave the impression of someone who couldn't bat. He wasn't around long, and gave the full impression that he would trot back to the pav imminently. I'll let you know if he looks any better next innings.... Jones never lasted long in his experimental trial, but he never looked as poor. [ Most of our bowlers seem more composed!]. I hope Robson does do better!!!!! In contrast Scott looked fine and then he was out. Handscombe scored some runs, and that's about all I can remember.
Ben Raine did Ben Raine things, but then got substituted for Rushy and they all came off for bad light never to return. Ecks seems to like to change the bowlers quite frequently.
It may or may not rain in the morning, the forecast switches to and fro. It will be cloudy. When it's cloudy bowlers can do well at Lord's, more so than anywhere else I can think of, so I was surprised with the Middlesex decision not to bat first on a Sunny morning, with possible showers next day. [It was sunny when Lees and Steel were batting, but their wickets came when there was no sun, I've just checked my pictures] I recon this is going to be a short match.
The Nursery end is now the McAlpine end and all cordoned off - so I still haven't made it to the Media Center at Lord's yet.....
It's been a while.....
One day I'll post something new - when my computer lets me!!!!!! Or even update the site it's rather out of date now isn't it. http://planetdurham.wordpress.com/ ...yer actual Lion hunting bloke of the wide open African plains sees bowling as a natural progression from spear throwing. Yesssss!

Martin Emmerson just tweeted that the floodlights are already on at Lord's and the accompanying photo showed some pretty dark clouds. If play resumes on time surely the bowlers will have everything in their favour. So what could possibly go wrong?

9 down but the deficit is just 14 so - at best - it'll be a one innings game.

All out and the lead is just 4. The runs added for the last 2 wickets could prove very costly if it continues to be a low scoring game - and with our lot about to start the second innings it surely will do. :facepalm

Cummins stranded 8 runs shy of his best ever FC score

Our 1st innings lead is 4, which is a bit disappointing given where we ended last night

if ever there was a time for a 'steady' batting performance then it is now.

No doubt they'll carefully see off the new ball without too many problems.
