up to third for the moment

it's very odd really.... I'm utterly convinced that promotion for us would be a very bad thing in terms of player development, and yet...... and yet....... it would be very nice to stick up two fingers at FTECB, and It might strengthen our arm for winter recruitment. We know we have money to spend right now, but that might not be enough to tempt players into coming to us on 3 year deals. Promotion might be the thing that swings some of these potential dealings

Gloucester will do a deal with Sussex if they can hang on in there until the end of the day. They did the same thing in the last round, which is why we aren't second. Sussex will go for it because they would rather risk losing for the chance of the win than settling for the draw, I reckon. A win would put them back in with half a chance of promotion

I hate deals, did I mention that? Just get on with the *modded* game. Win the game on merit if you're good enough or draw it if you aren't. Stop fiddling it.... gets on my wick

Our recent recruitment has been excellent and shrewd e.g. Lees, Eckersley,Salisbury who were all judged surplus to their counties -possibly Robson also. We're an improving team e.g. Carse, S.Steel, Potts, and C.Steel looks to have regained form. Uniquely 3 go up this season- you don't look gift horses in the mouth.

We are probably getting ahead of ourselves. There are still loads of contrived results to go yet, which will push us back down the table. Opening batsmen bowling filth to other opening batsmen, top bowlers scratching their arses at deep fine leg and long on while 150 runs are scored in half an hour. We'll bowl wide of off stump for an hour and put all our fielders on the leg side, then you do the same for us. declarations at 0-0 to set up a run chase of 200 in 40 overs......... and all depending on how desperate captains are at the time.

complete sh1te, really.

Interesting c.v. on Carse from Cricinfo.

Brydon Carse, a zippy fast bowler with a fast arm action, impressed at both ends of a 2016 summer that also saw him succumb to injury in mid-season. He made his first-class debut against Durham MCCU and finished with 17 wickets in eight matches. Carse was born in South Africa, but he is entitled to an ancestry visa because one of his grandparents was born in Britain and plays for a Durham as a Kolpak signing. His first appearance in the north-east was for Burnmoor in the Durham League in 2014.
So given the new eligibility rules, when will be qualify for England? I know he's spent the last few winters in England- Rushy has even converted him into a SAFC supporter!

I don't know the details of the rules, think it will depend on how many days a year he has spent in the country. Would guess he can't be far off qualifying ( or maybe already has.)

Norty's need 140 to go second

Gloucs have collapsed so won't get anywhere near the chance of a fiddle result... 4 wickets left and only leading by 19

Glammy's have been spanked by Worcs

Derby with 4 wickets left to try and avoid an innings defeat

Only runaway leaders Lancs have won more matches than us so far this season in div 2. I didn't think I'd be saying that after the first 4 games

Yeah. At that time it was impossible to see where a win would come from. Or a draw.

Yes, if you compiled a table from the last 8 games Durham would be clear top. Crucially N'hants in the final fixtures play Gloucs meanning if Durham win their last 2 games they're almost guaranteed promotion.
