Jones and Potts left out for the Sussex defeat game.
Coughlin is in the squad ...and so is Poynter. :facepalm
Presumably he isn't going to open the batting? Although he may as well do, a trademark quick 15 or so would be an improvement.

True!
They're saying Poynter is back because of good form im the seconds. Personally I'd not use that as a reason to bring him back, he's an experienced player so it'd be a surprise if he didn't make runs at that level. Has no bearing on first team ability imo because he has never looked up to it.
Hopefully he'll prove me wrong!

Presumably Eckersley is going to open the batting and Poytner to keep wicket as it would be asking too much of Eckersley to do both.Raine7 and Poytner8. No Salisbury again! Don't believe for one moment he's injured and certainly shouldn't be our 5th choice seamer.

That'd be a good idea - Eckersley looks like a proper batsman.

He does but I've just looked again at the squad and it looks as if it's listed in batting order with Clark at 2. So my bright idea looks short lived.

So it'll be the usual disastrous start! It has a rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic feel - unless Bangers can find his form Lees is the only real hope.

Bold decision to opt for a toss and choose to bat. Bancroft is down to open on the BBC card. Weighell in for Potts and Clark for Jones.

I wonder if Bancroft consults on these matters-surely he should ask Rushy and Raine if they fancy a bowl?

Hopefully he does. We seem to have had problems over the years with these toss rules- usually end up batting when we should be bowling or vice versa!

He clearly doesn't consult the weather forecast.

Yes, hard to imagine conditions at the toss suggested ideal batting conditions - and with our issues I'm not sure I'd opt to bag unless they were.
Perhaps it's a dodgy pitch or something and he thinks it'll get worse.

3 ducks! Although getting beyond 100 with only 5 wickets down is probably a good start by our standards.
Who had the bright idea of bringing Clark back?
