Or perhaps they're contriving to try and lose the game inside a day! If this clatter of wickets continue and then Northants get rolled over...

Only other game currently being played is at worcestershire and they're 39/5.

Seems it a good day to be rained off.

I wouldn't be unduly worried. Given our record this year you're still on track to make 350.

One thing about arriving around lunchtime on day 1 is you can be quite certain Eckersley will be batting because he's the number 7.
Maybe one day North or Franklin will explain why they think a batting line-up where 5 of the top 6 are either trying to establish themselves, or re-establish in the case of Lees, will ever work. Stoneman is one of the very few local batsmen to prosper and it took him years of playing in a top side with quality batsmen around him. So why the coaching duo think playing novices pretty much all in a row is not doomed to failure is another one of life's mysteries.

Wonder how this will pan out?
Will they last long enough to get bowled out for no batting points and with not enough overs to get more than 1 bowling point?
Or will it be a clatter of wickets leaving plenty of time to try and get a few bowling points?

Knowing our look the weather forecast will be wrong and allow just enough time for us to lose!

Eckersley out for 26, not sure he was best pleased but it might just have been annoyance with himself. And then next ball a ridiculous shot by Trevaskis to gift his wicket!
7 down so we surely will be bowling soon.

The 51st over ends with one more run needed for the milestone-99/7!

100/7 and it looks as if the bowlers have persuaded the umpires to change the ball.

123/7 at tea. Tricky because they can't assume the weather forecast will be correct but that'll probably mean no time to get more than one bowling point at best.
It's probably one time where a capitulation by the tail would be handy- so this time they'll probably stay in!!

And they are staying in. They've doubled the score-164/7 but only 13 overs left. Can't blame them because it would be foolish to place faith in weather forecasts.
