Yeah. Table still congested so in theory I think we could go through but highly unlikely to say the least. If they'd done as you were hoping and sent in Handscomb at 3 we'd almost certainly have made light work of it tonight.

and it's only fair to acknowledge the work our bowlers have put in this season. After a profligate start, Carse's economy rates are falling with every match. Matty Potts now has 13 wickets at 20 with a SR of 13. His econ of just under 9 is skewed by the beasting the entire team took at New Rd (his econ in that game was over 20). Rimmer (Gandalf the Grey) has been controlled, economical and threatening. Trevaskis is coming into his own with ball in hand and Steel looks as though he can provide the other spin twin role when Short leaves us. There is the basis of a proper bowling unit there going forward to next season (I'm assuming that Gandalf will get a contract extension)

Yeah. That was a moment of madness. He has been a great signing but brainless dismissal tonight.

Let's not get too hot under the collar as none of us regard T20 as important anyway. As little Johny said after he muffed his lines in the nativity play "Sh!t, sh!te, I didn't want to be in the play in the first place!" :Nooooo
More worringly, what sort of a pudding of a pitch are we going to have to cope with on Sunday?.

Yes, that is a worry. Pitch seemed ok yesterday but can't have been given how both sides struggled- there was a short boundary too! No doubt we'll get shot out in the first innings as per usual.

when I first looked at the pitch they'd prepared and saw how short the boundary was on the pavilion side, I thought we were mad.... offering such a short boundary to Messrs Wessels and Guptill

The pitch was so far over to the edge of the square that it can't possibly have been a used, worn pitch, so I figured the pitch would be decent and we'd be lucky to restrict them to anything under 200. I suppose the dreadful weather over the last week or so must have hampered preparations, because batting was tough.

Unlike the Worcs batsmen who couldn't time anything, we got off to a very sensible start with no such timing issues and no scoreboard pressure, so what happened afterwards still has me shaking my head

Whiteley hit the last ball of their innings for four........ it didn't worry anybody, but as it turned out they were the match winning runs

I'd forgotten about that last ball boundary. As you say, it seemed totally insignificant at the time. And would have stayed so were it not for inept batting!

I'm not certain but think it's an addition. Have a feeling there were 2 scheduled ones and the second is later in the season although I could be wrong.
Seems a bit of an oddity - why have an Ashes forum let alone one that takes place during the second test? Must be a reason for it but I can't think what it is!
