I think the asterisk might be next to the bowler of the over in progress. Earlier on it was next to Rushworth but he was partway through an over.

D'oh! Of course. I'm rusty at reading scorecards.

Me too. I also thought it was identifying the captain but then noticed it had changed after the over!
University match next week - will they have decided who it's going to be by then?! Unless Bancroft is the man and that's why they're annoyed at his late arrival. I doubt it'll be him though because there's a good chance he will be involved in the Ashes.

White ball captain maybe. Rushy red ball captain for me. Not ideal having your lead bowler as captain but he's the logical(only?) choice.

Bancroft is the captain according to the Guardian.

There'll be a different T20 skipper.

Naturally he's captain after I said he probably wouldn't be! :facepalm
Probably a good choice as an international should be and to handle the pressures of captaincy whilst also concentrating on run scoring.

Lees standing in for Bancroft until he gets here so he must be vice captain in the FC game and probably RL50. Perhaps he will do the T20 job too although didn't the captaincy lead to his loss of form at Yorkshire? Short might be a better option!

Some very negative comments on Twitter. For me the only issue is his availability, if he is here for a good amount of games then I think it's a good choice.

And since the hope is he will be here for most of the year it would have been odd to rule him out as captain just in case he isn't.

I knew it.... called it weeks and weeks ago.... although I can't remember whether I said they should make him capt, or would make him captain

the right choice, imo
