Took me about 3hrs to get to CLS today (roughly 1hr 10mins to finally join the A1M from Harrogate and spent 50 minutes from exiting the A1 to parking up). Drive home was nice, virtually no traffic after I got off the A1M so it was to drive at maximum speed limit most of the time instead of some slow coach doing 40mph on a 60mph zone (and still does 40mph on a 30mph zone)

I always wonder how long it takes to get out of the car parking, tbh. It always looks totally chaotic and would be the sort of thing that could stop people coming back again.

There is lots of parking, but only one way in and out for Durham games. Different for the internationals because the police close all the other roads off for an hour and the traffic flows away easily. When they do that it is effectively a 4 lane road away from the ground and then dual carriageway in every direction either to Durham or to the motorway. When they don't, the route out is just a series of pinch points at every roundabout, so perhaps for Friday night T20 matches the club need to pay to get the police involved with traffic management.

I'm lucky.... I have a patient who lives on the other side of the A167 park road and is happy for me to park on her drive, so all I have to do is walk through the parking area, cross the main road at the crossing point, walk around the corner, and I'm then driving in the opposite direction to everyone else..... straight home! It's worked well for years now. I have no idea what I'll do when she isn't there any more

Those pinch points were horrible because at Junction 63 you have Northbound and Southbound traffic going on one road. Next time I am exiting off Durham and go up the A167. When I eventually arrived the cricket parking was full, took one look at how busy the overflow parking was and just parked on a nearby street. It didn't seem too bad leaving, but I was on the A1M in next to no time.

I wonder if Jimmy will get the chance to prove his fitness? We might not last long enough for him to have more than one spell!

Yep! Would be a big confidence booster if they get runs. So far so good!

Here are the damning stats from Martin Emmerson

Of the 1,419 runs scored by @DurhamCricket in this year's T20, 721 (50.8%) have been scored by jus two people, D'Arcy Short and Scott Steel at the top of the order.
That means 12 other batsmen have been responsible for just 698 runs, 49.2%.

Can I dare turn that into a criticism in that D'Arcy has rarely taken us over the line in T20?. :hide

Yes, think that's a fair point. Although I suppose he shouldn't have had to after setting up what should have been simple wins. Then again perhaps he should have changed his game once he realised the batting to come was hopeless!

And they passed it by getting half centuries. Anderson has had a decent workout after all. 15 overs so far.

I suppose Birmingham opted to field because of the thunderstorms. Better to chase and know where you are all the time.

They must have been tempted to ask us to chase after the last two debacles

good work from Robson, Burnham and Cold Steel in the seconds game. Anderson is top drawer and Bailey is a very dangerous customer
