I'm hoping that Rushy is still 'on the beer'. The season where he went 'dry' for charity was perhaps the worst he's had in a Durham shirt. The article mentions him taking 50 wickets 4 times in 6 years with one season on 47. I'll bet you that the remaining season was that dry one

There was a line from Franklin im the yearbook, haven't got it to hand right now but it was something to the effect of not needing world class players to have a top class team. I knew what he meant but ...!

About time something like this was brought in. Just a shame it's happened too late for us to benefit!

We'd expect Burnham to say all the right things but I get the impression that his comments are heartfelt. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to put his troubles behind him and have a fine career. Although if he does do well this year he'll probably end up at Notts next year!

There's a little bit in today's Times about the compensation payments introduced from next year. Apparently the sums of money involved will be fairly small with a maximum amount of £48,000. It works out as £6,000 for every year a player was at the initial county between the ages of 15-23 but minus £6,000 for every year after the age of 25.

Stuart Rayner has Sir Ian's response to critics of Bancroft as captain " They can go polish their halos somewhere else."
