Heard from a reliable source that Will Smith has been released from his contract as is working at Durham University. Michael Richardson is almost back to full fitness after suffering a broken thumb.

Not surprising if we had to rely on feeds from the club. I asked Wor Nige about Richo and he said he was progressing well and had the plaster removed from his foot. :dunno

I was talking to one of the regulars at the ground who also said Richo had been injured and may not have been available recently in any case because of a family illness.
Smith seems to have been out of the frame after the first match so he probably was looking to move on - if he has gone though I hope it was by request because there's still a long way to go this season and his experience could have been useful at some stage. He surely must have wanted to go if the contract has been cancelled mid-season.

Tweet from the club mentioning it's one month to the start of the Vitality Blast. So does that mean they've got 4 weeks to find a coach?!
Perhaps they've got Colly lined up after the World Cup or maybe another candidate and for some reason they're delaying the announcement.
Other possibility is they haven't got anyone lined up yet - surely not! :facepalm

Today Michael Richardson, son of Dave Richardson, former South African keeper and current ICC CEO, made his T20 international debut for Germany against Denmark at Castel in Guernsey in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Region Final. He too keeps wickets, like his father!

And Cameron Steel joins him in the international ranks.

No chance of Colly, you have to have experience coaching at South North to be eligible for a post at Durham. Captain of a World cup winning team? - no chance.

True. They'll probably give it to our batting/spin coach!
The odd thing is that Franklin has been involved in coaching roles at T20 tournaments so why not just get him to do it?
Any chance of success probably is entirely dependent on Short and Bancroft scoring lots of runs so it probably doesn't matter who is coach.
Whoever it is though will have to appoint a captain because that's another minor issue to resolve!
