Sky commentators mentioned that the final is on the same day England are playing a World Cup warmup match and as Vince is unlikely to play in that game it would be sensible to let him play for Hampshire. If would be the logical decision - far better off for him to be playing a match rather than carrying the drinks.
Well played today!

The difference with the final though, compared to the weekend just gone, is that England would have to make the call to release Vince before the ODI.

It was easy for the SF yesterday. England played the day before, and the two games were on the same ground. Whereas for the final, because England play on the same day - and at a different ground (ironically it's the Rose Bowl again that England play) - they would need to make the call the day before. Even if their intention is for Vince not to make the final XI, how willing will they be to make the call to release him the day before? What if, say, Bairstow twists his ankle an hour before the match starts?

I'm hopeful that Vince will be available. But I'm not counting my chickens. (Without Markram already though, we'd have little chance vs Somerset without Vince too.)

Good point. They might want to hang onto him in case of a late injury.

Sadly Hants seconds is as far as Weatherley and Soames will ever go, this level is just too much for them.

Arguably the weakest opening partnership in the history of Hants CCC, not their fault.

Don't know, presume Markram's gone now?

With Northeast going from a brilliant start in early April to a dramatic loss of form in the one dayers after Kent, our top order is looking decidedly fragile.

Donald becoming more and more valuable to us as every week passes.

If we could have gone into this game with Vince and Rahane, rather than Soames and Wetherley, I'd be licking my lips.

If Alsop can get a bit more consistency in his batting he can turn into a damn fine player.

After slagging off Soames and Weatherley on day one, have to mention the quick time fifty partnership before lunch on day three. And Weatherley nipped in with a useful wicket before the new ball was taken this morning.

Hope they can keep it going after lunch, but a good base.nonetheless.

Bloody hell, Soames has biffed his way to a 47 ball fifty.

His highest score before this innings was 29.

The way things are going you would think they'll want 10-15 overs at them tonight, so a lead of between 400 and 450.

if he'd been playing Durham, he'd have scored his maiden FC century.... it's what we do these days..... we present players with the chance to record PB scores/hauls.

I've said it before on the Durham thread....... if I was a fringe player coming towards the end of my contract with a club, then the team I'd most want to play ahead of contract negotiations would be Durham.

Good to get Sibley early.

It's sad to see how Durham have fallen over recent years DFM, used to really enjoy our at least two games a season banter, now we rarely play you in any form.

It's only second XI cricket, so I'll always take it with a huge pinch of salt, but Soames has been biffing the white ball to all parts in recent weeks.

A good day tomorrow and we'll have won 10 of our opening 12 matches this season.

Weather forecast for the day... some early morning rain (moving off to the west curiously) may delay the start but then looks set fair for the rest of the day, so hopefully time enough to get 8 wickets.
