It was very good at that point. But taken about 90 mins to remove Stone and OHD has surely meant this will now be a draw.

If we'd bowled them out before lunch, with a lead of about 280, we maybe could have looked to really go hard throughout this entire middle session. Maybe smash 170 and declare at tea with a lead of 450. Four sessions to bowl them out, including a healthy period of about 40 overs after the second new ball (the new ball is the only thing which has taken wickets in this match). Also, having the two innings' finish at lunch and tea respectively would have meant that no overs were lost for change of innings.

But instead the lead has been reduced down to 230 and, more importantly, about 2/3rds of this middle session has now gone. Now we're not going to be able to declare until deep into the final session. Maybe only 8 to 10 overs at them tonight? Will 100 to 110 overs be enough to bowl them out? I'm not sure.

It was still a very good morning for us. But I kind of feel that we're back where we started, whereby a draw is almost certainly the final result.

Yes these wickets bring an element of nerves (in relation to the size of our lead), but they also really help to avoid this game ending up a draw. Being skittled for 100 might not be a bad thing.

11 overs at them tonight. Slow innings from Northeast, compared to the rest, meant that we didn't quite manage to go at the 6 an over rate I was looking for. But still a decent position.

One wicket tonight would be decent, two would be great.

Getting Sibley yesterday was big. Getting him now is even bigger.

Abbott got Cook twice in a match earlier this season. Now he gets the next-best-thing-to-Cook twice in a match.

Correct. Got a Lions call up for next week.

If England want to find the next David Warner for the Ashes, then giving Jason Roy a chance would make sense. If England want to find the next Alistair Cook for the Ashes, then giving Dom Sibley would make sense.

Heading down there today, still expect Warks to put up a fight and get (nearly) a full days play

Very pleased for Abbott. He bowled excellently in the first innings (best bowler on either side), but with little reward. Now he's getting that reward.

These 2 have batted well, we haven’t bowled badly, Organ has been excellent and asking lots of questions.

New ball will decide the game.

Being made to pay for not having a front line spinner. Boot on the other foot, and Jeetan would have bowled us out.

So yes, all about the new ball. Remove one of these two, and the three guys who are left could all fall very quickly.
