All for digging in but not overly keen on Soames taking 155 balls to reach 34...

With regards to Saturday you’d hope Vince and Daws (if selected) would be released or I feel we are in for a thrashing!

Is it confirmed that Rahane can’t play?

Can’t recall wanting a Hants player out before, but Soames is making the list

That would leave us with no Vince, no Dawson, no Wood, no Markram and no Rahane. Weatherley and Taylor would probably both have to start, who between them have bowled three overs and haven't faced a single ball so far in the competition.

Why no Rahane?

I don't know if this is the case but perhaps there's a rule about not being able to play in the final if you haven't played in the group stages?

I did think that, little harsh if the guy is playing the other formats. I know they bought in a rule after Essex signed Bravo for Finals Day, but I assumed that was a T20 rule

Yes, it's a white-ball rule rather than just a t20.

I believe it's why Lancs decided to dispense of Maxwell slightly earlier than they needed to in the group stage (although I could be wrong). In theory, like Markram, I believe Maxwell could have played all their group games before leaving to join up with Oz. But that would have left them unable to select Lehmann in the KO stages, in the event that they qualified (which they did).

We had no such luxury with Rahane, given that he was still at the IPL when we played our final group game.

I know we're trying our best to have Vince available for Saturday, but unless the ICC relent then we're barking up the wrong tree. It's very much an ICC issue rather than an ECB issue, and I don't see any reason why the ICC would be willing to bend their rules to help out a domestic competition. (Although in the event that they do, then it does in turn become an ECB issue - because they would still need to sanction his release from the England squad, on a day when England are playing.) I don't even have my fingers crossed - I have zero expectation that he'll be available.

Different format, different ball, different bowling attack etc. But yes, Soames didn't exactly make a case today for getting selected on Saturday ahead of Weatherley.

When you think what he did in the second innings against Warwickshire, a strange innings that today.

One of those players that can only do all out attack or all out defence. Needs to be able to mix it up.

Another promising knock from Donald, gave the innings a bit of impetus at the end of the day.

Interesting that these two sides have played a CC game in the IOW before, Hants declared in both innings to win by 80 odd runs. 1957 I think it was, Derek Shackleton took 13 wickets in the game.

Durham can barely bat 155 balls for the entire innings, so he'd be a hero up here

Celebrating the loss of Dawson and Vince for the one day final by collapsing on day 2!

Maybe Crane will get personal best figures in this game!

Daws probably won't even play, either

Not reliant on the top 4 on Saturday then :/

Bookies don’t seem to have adjusted their odds yet, still make us favourites.... evens about Somerset seems very fair

I make Somerset favourites now, bear in mind we've lost 3 of our major players from the group stages, Markram having gone as well.

Bursts of wickets followed by annoying partnerships has been the story of this innings.

Crane is not really a like for like replacement for Dawson, mind you not sure who else could have come in.

Probably cost us winning this game and the one at the weekend!

At this rate it'll be a lead of sod all, what a load of complete pants.

Best conditions to bat in with the sun out and the ball 60/70 overs old.
