Somerset are going to win at a canter, so I'd imagine Essex will be looking to cut some sort of deal before long.... which if they do (I hate cutting deals) will hopefully screw up any hopes they have for winning on the last day of the season

It depends. Essex would be wise not to forgo batting points, and assuming that they do then go for them, they'll be so little time left.

With Somerset getting no batting points, an Essex draw with 4 or 5 batting points would still see them eat right into Somerset's 16 win points.

There's also the fact that a draw for Warks will keep them up (as would taking 9 Essex wickets before 110 overs). So no incentive for them to risk not collecting those draw points.

Odds on Essex will get 10pts tomorrow leaving them 7pts behind Somerset. Final fixture is Somerset v Essex at Taunton. Cidermen can't make it a ciderabad with Harmer in the opposition.

Other than Notts fans themselves, I get the impression that most fans won't be sorry to see Notts leave D1.

No real surprise that Sky have already announced that Somerset-Essex will be their live game in the final week.

(Although I guess the title could be decided next week, if Somerset win and Essex lose - possibly even if Essex draw.)
