How much money did Notts spend on acquiring Clarke, Duckett, Slater and Chappell over the winter? (Anyone else?)

Unless the weather saves them tomorrow, they're heading for four defeats in five. And against the side closest to them at the bottom. Just seven batting points.

Rain and bad light has put paid to this game.

Feel the Yorkshire team are starting to gel, having Bess on and Willey back has given us extra quality in the bowling attack. Unless if Yorkshire manage to sign Bess on a permanent contract (Andrew Gale has been in touch with his agent), any progress in the County Championship is going to be checked. Poysden just does not have the ability to contain an end with the ball and can't hold a bat, though I have more confidence in Karl Carver than the Yorkshire hierarchy do.

With Adil Rashid playing through the pain barrier, I reckon his season will finish early and England will want Jack Leach involved in The Ashes. Bess returns back to Somerset with match form, becomes 1st choice and maintains their title aspirations.

No, just that he feels it is time for someone else to take over.

I see Somerset have dropped Trescothick for this weeks game against Kent. 86 runs in 8 innings so far. He's been written off before but at his age another comeback feels hard to imagine.

No play today for Yorks at Surrey. Looks like there won't be much action in this game at all.

Essex due for an injury in their bowling dept as Northants have Coles on loan. We've had 2 loan spells curtailed due to bowlers being recalled already this season.

Yorks just lost seven wickets for 24 runs. Could be a follow on here.

It must be atrocious conditions today, everything in favour of the bowlers. Must have been a rain delay because lunch was taken partway through an over and a wicket hadn't just fallen.

Went to York yesterday for the opening day of Yorkshire v Warwickshire

Rather impressed with the setup at York Sports Club. The 2,000 temporary seated stand was reasonable, though better vantage points were found side of the main pavilion through standing behind long on or sitting on a wall. Where the Rugby Pitch is situated, there was a temporary bar with a large tent to shelter from the elements and a food outlet.

Roughly 2600 turned up for the opening day, decent effort considering the weather and general reputation of outgrounds. In all York Sports Club have put on a good turn, the wicket had pace for bowlers and batsmen to play attacking stuff and the outfield was pretty quick despite the volume of rain in recent times. King Arthur of the Yorkshire board has suggested York might host two One Day Cup matches next year. If it came to a choice between a Hundred game at Headingley or a 50 over match at York, i'd happily choose the latter even with the extra travelling.
