Already got a very good total against a strong bowling line-up. We got rid of Jimmy for you!

Jimmy has been diagnosed with a torn leg muscle and is a doubt for the tests. Ludicrous that Lancashire sent him out to bat- can't believe ECB countenced that.

Starts bowling again tomorrow, 10 days after pulling up. They will want him to have some bowling before the Ashes so I imagine he plays in the Ireland Test.

Hameed watch. He picks exactly the wrong time to score a half-century.

Notts didn't even bother bowling most of their seam attack in that 3rd innings. this is what got Somerset into trouble in the first place. trying to throw people off the scent by sending one of their 2 best spinners out on loan for a couple of weeks won't fool anyone

the closer they get to the title, the more they are reverting to type

I believe they've only got two more home games left in the CC. But one of them is the final game of the season....against Essex.

(If their title rivals were anyone else, I think it's very safe to predict what sort of pitch they'd be preparing for that one. But against Harmer? It could come back to bite them. Which would be such a shame...)

I don't think Somerset would be wary of Harmer when it comes to preparing a spinning pitch, considering Notts had a certain Ravi Ashwin in their team.

Somerset posting a 1st innings score of 326 doesn't sound like a minefield pitch in previous seasons gone by. Maybe playing a string of County Championship games in peak summer has allowed spinners to come into their own. I'd rather see bunsen burners than green mambas.

There's no evidence that Somerset are preparing Bunsens. Spinners are responsible for less than 25% of the wickets that Somerset have taken all season.

Somerset don't even need to prepare bunsens if they want to win the County Championship. Pound for pound their bowling attack is the most versatile in County Championship cricket.

Yorks v Somerset tomorrow, but not at Turnton.

Willey and Shaw are available.

Fraine/Lyth/Ballance/Cadmore/Brook/Tattersall/Willey/Maharaj/Fisher/Patterson/Olivier/Coad/Shaw/Thompson

Long time since I was at school, but I can count seven pace bowlers. You'd take two fewer than that on an Ashes tour.

Yorks leave out Coad, Olivier and Willey.

Concentrating on the T20?

Somerset elected to bowl.

Olivier is in the playing XI, reckon he will be rested for the opening Blast game

Coad picked up an injury at Chelmsford so Josh Shaw comes in.

Dom Bess is becoming a right turncoat as he signs for Yorkshire on loan for the Blast. Imagine him changing dressing rooms at the end of the County Championship game?!

Five for Maharaj. Yorks giving Somerset a most unexpected pasting. Good news for Essex.
