Good start with the openers share a 50 stand.

Durham-esque collapse by Notts against Essex from 126/2 to 168/8. Broad in now.

Sussex also continuing to follow the Durham script - 6/2 in response to 273 from Northants.
One of the wickets is the on loan Varun Chopra.

The wonderfully named Fynn Hudson-Prentice , playing for Derbyshire, started the day with a FC best score of 20 and a total of 84 runs in 8 innings.
And he ended the day with FC best score of...99! :facepalm

Yorkshire went from 187-1 to 250-8 before recovering a little to 327 all out. Still, runs on the board as they say.

Haseebwatch. 24 against Durham. He has that ton this season but hasn't gone past 50 otherwise.

Wonder if it's getting to the point where he needs to move on and make a new start? It seems to have worked for Alex Lees - although now I've said it Haseeb will probably get 200 in the second innings and Lees won't score any runs for the rest of the season.

Have Sussex signed Durham's batting coach? 83/7.
Although we might fare even worse this afternoon when Jimmy and Onions get to work.

In shock news Northants actually avoid a tailend fightback by the opposition.

They're reverting to type now! Both set batsmen out to Anderson and Onions with the score on 136!

He's more than welcome to try out a new start on the south coast. Weatherley-Soames is easily the worst opening pair since I've been following Hampshire. Both are a long, long, long way from being good enough.

It's a huge shame really, because our middle order is as good as it's been for a long time. If only they weren't always coming in at 10-2.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

We'd have a decent opening partnership if they could both just get runs in the same innings and get the average partnership past about 12!
Seem to be a few teams struggling with openers...and some also with problems in the middle order!
Seriously though , it seems unlikely that Hameed has completely lost it so a change might be what he needs.
Notts will probably get him!

Sussex need 499 to win. Is it sad that I don't feel confident?
