This tournament is back after it's weird 6 month sabbatical - the last matches were in May.

The leaders, Speen Ghar, might have done just enough to stay at the top of the table as they seek to defend 331 runs on the final day after posting 322 and 291 in their two innings.

Darwish Rasooli - a player who has long been eyed as the next Afghanistan star off the production line - got a century to help SG to the lead. The 19 year old is fresh from scoring175 in two games for an Afghanistan Emerging side in a tri series featuring a Bangladesh and Sri Lankan Emerging side.

Amo managed to pull off the difficult task of surviving the day and drawing the match - largely thanks to 114 from Abdul Malik.

AMo reach 259/6 and would have felt hard done by for the fact they could not go on and get the win.

The two teams are still at the top of the table.

Missed the first day of this round but two decent matches in the offing here.

Yesterday Amo posted 262 - a total that Boost managed to overhaul today as they went to stumps on 304-8. This is largely down to 177 from wicketkeeper Munir Ahmed who boosted Boost's total from 77-6. He is undefeated overnight.

In the other game, Mis Ainak put on 486 in the first innings but Band-e-Amir are struggling and are 186-5. Like the other game, it is was bolstered by one huge total as captain Hashmatullah Shahidi is on 102* as we go into Day Three.

Boost dragged their total to 337 - a lead of 75 but Amo soon gobbled that up and went to stumps on Day 3 with a lead of 150. This is largely down to 75 from Zahid Zakhaill. Fresh from scoring a double hundred last week, the youngster is making an impression in this tournament - he is the fifth top run scorer.

After impressing with the bat in Day One, Mis Ainak impressed with the ball as Zia-ur-Rehman got all 5 of the remaining Band-e-Amir wickets within 4 overs. This leaves the Afganistan international with figures of 19.3-8-46-6 and handing his side a first innings lead of 283. This was stretched to 503 as they went to stumps at 226-6. An early declaration is assured on Day 4.

Disappointingly both these games ended up as a draw.

A quickfire 87 off 91 balls from Abdul Wasi forced Amo's agenda and set Boost 341 runs to get in 40 overs. An unobtainable feat. Amo finish the round in second with Boost in fourth.

Band-e-Amir vs Mis Ainak was very likely to be a draw unless MA collapsed - which they did not. BEA put on another 18 runs and declared to set a target of 522 for MA. Yousuf Zazai sniffed victory as he bagged 6 wickets but BEA ran out of steam and time and finish the round last and winless whilst Mis Ainak are now third.

Test Capped Abdul Malik went on to score his maiden double ton against Speenghar region this morning. He faced 333 deliveries and scored 21 4s and 2 6s in his way to the milestone.

Massive achievement this as Amo declared on 518-2. Speen Ghar will be actively playing for the draw

Shockingly Speen Ghar managed to grind out a draw in the end with some tenacious performances from their batsmen - none more so than Nasir Khan Omar who got a 255 ball 95 at the top of the order.

Speen Ghar are turning the table on it's head as they look to build a decent lead on table toppers Band-e-Amir.

Zahir Shehzad was instrumental in getting BEA all out for just 298 before getting to within a hundred of that with just three batsmen down on Day Two.

Could be in for a shock here.

Nijat Masood got Band-E-Amir back into the game with three of the 7 wickets that his team needed to get Speen Ghar out. SG managed a 21 run lead which would have been a disappointment from their position last night. That lead has now disappeared with BEA 132-3 and with a Nelson lead.

With the game over tomorrow a draw seems most likely.

Band-e-Amir set out to bat for the day and did so with great efficency and with very little excitement.

Islam Zazai's 251 ball 128 was the performance of the day. The draw does nothing to the table with BEA top and Speen Ghar bottom.

Band-e-Amir have the upper hand in the final of this tournament.

BEA only posted 193 - 10 fewer than Amo's first innings but Amo are on the cusp of getting bowled out very cheaply thanks to figures of 6-31 from Nijat Masood. Amo only have a lead of 120 with 3 batsmen left in the hutch.

Band-e-Amir are the 2021 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament champions.

Amo could only add 7 further runs to their total of 110 overnight. That set BEA an easily attainable target of 128. Captain Afsar Zazai led the way with a half century to see his boys home with two days to spare.

Band-e-Amir's Riaz Hussan was the top run scorer with 636 - 235 runs more than anyone else. Amo's Zohaib boasted 32 wickets to take the highest wicket taking accolade.

The early rounds of the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day Tournament have seen all 4 games play out to a result. Thus far it is Band-e-Amir who lead the way with 2 wins from two with Speen Ghar having the most to do having lost both their opening games.

Bane-e-Amir are leading the way in terms of running making too with the two highest scores of the tournament so far being players that turn out for the Dragons. Karim Janat is the leading batter so far having registered no score less than 50 in his opening 3 innings. His total of 216 lead the way on the overall run scoring table.

For a team in the doldrums, it a surprising that the best individual bowling figures come from a Speen Ghar player, but it is Noor Ahmed whose figures of 6-105 reflect the best return from a bowler – disappointingly that came against Amo who also managed to accrue the highest total of the tournament so far in the self-same innings. When you turn your eye to overall most wickets you find a Band-e-Amir player once more. Amir Hamza’s 13 wickets @ 8.53 is the best so far – however he does have that advantage of playing twice that 3 other teams have not had.

The tournament continues throughout October with the final on the 7th November.

The final of this tournament plays starts in Sunday – and Band-e-Amir are clear favourites having won all 4 of their games. They are up against an Amo side that won 2 and lost the other 2 – however they have proven that they can win big.

Both of Amo’s victories were 2 of the largest victories of the tournament.; a 226 run win against Speen Ghar and an innings and 132 run win against Mis Ainak. They also boast the bowler with the best figures in an innings in the form of Shafiqullah Ghafari who got the tournament’s only 7fer.

As you can imagine for a team as successful as BEAR have been they have both the highest run scorer and the bowler with the most wickets. Karim Janat has 546 run at 182 and Amir Hamza has 24 wickets at 10.66. They will play big parts in the showpiece final.

The stand out achievement from the non-qualified teams comes from Speen Ghar’s Bahir Shah who got the tournament’s highest individual score of 182 against Mis Ainak.

Boost had a largely anonymous season and only won their final game this week.

Andrew Strauss are you watching?!

The final of the Ahmed Shah Abdali 4-Day Trophy turned into a turgid event after Amo, the lesser favoured team were invited to bat first and then went about gaining runs at a slow pace to gain the first innings lead that they needed to win the title. In the end, 395 did not seem a mammoth total but it was enough when they got BEAR – who had been so impressive in the league stages – out for just 278. Mohammad Shahzad was the man of the match for scoring 113 and 101 before having to retire hurt.

The tournament’s best player Karim Janat did not go out on a bang. After 6 successive 50+ scores he scored a mere 15 this time out but chipped in with 4 wickets. He still finishes with 164 more runs than anyone else in the tournament. Amir Hamza, the tournament’s stand out bowler got a further 6 wickets in the final and ends on 30 @ 12.46. Despite these two players being Band-e-Amir representatives, it was their team that ended up with the silver medals today.
