Been watching this tournament over the last few weeks because it's on about the time I get into work in the morning.

Cracks out some good results too.

Kanarli are tournament whipping boys losing their fourth game out of four today in emphatic fashion.

Chasing Province Number 1's total of 228, they were all out for 47. Puspa Thapa got 6-19 to help P1 to their first win of the season.

Today Province Number 5 (A cricket team and not a one hit wonder by Lou Bega) beat bottom of the table Gandaki.

Gandaki's winless run has continued despite a battling effort from Anil Gurung who got 115. Many see Gurung as one of the next stars of Nepalese cricket and his 152 ball stand consisting of five 4s and a six makes me think the same.

The win takes P5 to 3rd place in Pool A.

It's on Youtube.

Today Gandaki showed themselves up as ultimate wooden spoon contenders as they were all out for just 89 to second bottom placed Sudur Paschim.

The marvellously named Binod Lama got 5-25.

The cricket community really mourned the loss of the Nepalese Prime Minster's Cup and it has come roaring back this year.

We are already half way through the group stage. The ten teams are split into two groups of five who go up against each other once with the top four progressing.

Today third place Nepal Police Club mauled Sudur Paschim thanks to a strong bowling performance from the police.

Sudur Pachim's running was as slow as if they were Walking on the Moon and Every Little Thing the home team did was Magic - especially Dipendra Singh Airee who gutted the tail and got figures of 6.1-2-10-4 and helped limit SP to just 110. The police chased that down easily - just as well as they Can't Stand Losing.

The final of this takes place on Saturday as Tribuhuwan Army marched into the final against the Armed Police.

Tribhuwan dominated Bagmati today - beating them by 94 runs. Gautam KC got all three Tribhuwan openers for just 17 runs and then went on to get his fivefer but ended up on the losing side as Bagmati only got to 135 in a chase of 229.

The Prime Minister's Cup started today with no fewer than eight games.

Run-scoring was not in great abundance in the first round of fixtures. The closest fought of the opening games was Nepal Police vs Sudur Paschim.

The Police made a bit of a hash of it in getting to 93-8. In reply, Sudur Paschim looked good for the win on 48-2 at the halfway mark but managed to throw it away. Aarif Sheikh got four of the last 5 wickets to knock the stuffing out of the Northern team. His figures of 4-9 are the best of the tournament thus far.

Continuing our judicial theme, the Armed Police Force were in action against Province Number 2 in the afternoon matches. Rupesh Singh was the main man for P2, taking 4 of the 5 AP wickets, however their total of 163 was too high in the final reckoning. Aasif Sheikh was the top scorer for the Armed Police with 63. This was also the highest score for the day.

After the first round of matches, Trubhuwan Army top Group A with Bagmati Province leading out Group B.

It's been a week and 16Pri matches since the last Prime Minister's Cup update so there's a lot to catch up on.

Nepal Police Club in Group A and the Armed Police Force are both (suspiciously) dominant in their leagues, with the former being 3 for 3 and the latter 4 from 4. Tomorrow's match is the final round Robin game in the groups and is a dead rubber so it is cut and dried that the two Police clubs will be joined by Tribhuwan Army and Bagmati.

In terms of individual success, Dev Khanal of Lumbini has impressed with the bat courtesy of two half century scores. The most prolific wicket taker is his team mate Anil Kharel with 10. Odd that the team with the highest run scorer and highest wicket taker only won 2 of their 4 games.

The Semi-finals take place on Tuesday with the final the following day.
