Need some assurances about strengthening of a very small squad before renewing.

He might not. I've put forward questions which haven't been presented and I doubt that would have been Marty's decision.

According to Atherton in The Times , the proposal to extend the current format for another year failed to get the two thirds majority required...so they're going to have another vote!

Very democratic. Next ECB proposal"you can have any set up you like as long as Middlesex and Surrey are in the 1st division ".

Yes. It does seem odd to have another vote - he says the county chairmen failed to reach either consensus or the 2/3 majority.

it's the EU paradox.... keep voting until you get the right answer

I hope they go back to 2 divs....... they can always keep the option of reverting back to a conference system if covid isn't behaving the way the boffins expect open. It would mean they'd have to re work the fixture lists, which might be less than ideal, but there you go...... get on with it.... everyone else has to

whatever the perceived merits of a conference system, the ECB can't get away from the fact that 12 counties spent a month playing dead rubbers... and even if they were to argue that the counties in the 2nd of 3 divs were perhaps (only perhaps) playing for promotion for the following year, that still leaves 6 counties playing dead rubbers for a month, which is a wholly unsatisfactory situation.

If only Durham hadn't made it into the top 4 and MIddlesex hadn't been so rubbish...... none of this would have been necessary

have they even bothered to award points for the cancelled Surrey/Durham game yet?

I don't think there are any points ( but could be wrong!) Think once a game gets called off then the entire league reverts to average points per game- although having said that at the tine it was called off the ECB said points decision would come later so it's confusing!

Meeting was "shambolic" accrding to many reports, ended in chaos and the final straw leading to Watmore's departure.

It's quite impressive how he has managed to cause so much chaos in such a short period of time.
