Nothing like a day under the covers to re-enliven a pitch. Tricky batting conditions at Wantage Rd this morning and a comfortable win for Northamptonshire.

The way Sussex are batting at the moment, every team could provide a pitch resembling a pancake, and they'd still get bowled out for 200.

Congrats DD, good luck for the rest of the season.

To be fair batting was very tricky on the first morning. I'd be more worried about the bowling based on this performance. Hopefully Sussex can improve from here.

Regardless of how the bowlers did at Wantage rd, the top 7 were all out within half an hour and 20 on the board. We could of had the windies 80s attack at their peak at 8-11, the game is lost.

Certainly need to find some openers. I hadn't realised about the other matches. I know Salt is injured and Jordan was at the IPL. Was anyone else missing?

Looked tough with the new ball. Crawley got one from Archer that screamed off the pitch, Bell-Drummond also got something similar. Couple of terrible shots (by memory Stevens for instance chased a pretty wide, full ball from Garton) inbetwen, but not much the top order can do.

Rest assured Sussex have made a fantastic job of buggering up positions like this all year, so in 3 days time I will be congratulating Kent for an amazing comeback win.
