There was concern that Willey would struggle to play consecutive County Championship matches. Yorkshire looking at the longer term picture by resting Willey in a low risk fixture, as losing to Kent would not overly affect chances of Division 1 qualification.

The way Sussex are batting at the moment, every team could provide a pitch resembling a pancake, and they'd still get bowled out for 200.
