Carse impressed in the ODI'S and was clearly likely to have further opportunities with England and Lees in Australia captaining the A side during the Ashes meant he was highly likely to get the England call too. I was amazed when we didn't strengthen the squad given all that.

Paper thin squad and at the end of last season when " rookie" contracts were announced for Bushnell,Crawshaw, Doneathy ,MacIntosh and Gibson and a contract extension given to Campbell I assumed they all must have been considered to have been on the verge of selection to the senior team. Campbell has since departed, not amicably I gather, Gibson looks far short of senior level on his few appearances, Bushnell a sole promising appearance. Instead series of loan signings and overseas signings, all of questionable ability. What sort of message is this giving to future academy prospects?
The club appears to be completely without meaningful leadership and planning.

Yes, it's very odd. Either the coaches are incorrectly judging that the younger players aren't yet up to it, or they are right in which case questions need to be asked about the academy coaching.

There was also a bloated umpire at last game - IDB didn't look a day over 60.

What is already interesting is it is not being hosted by Marty as is the norm but is simply a Question and answer session with North and Franklin. Marty has been justifiably critical of performances lately so is his absence coincidental?
Would anyone attending post a report on here?

Is Marty not just on holiday? It is unusual for him not to be hosting it. At the very least he can control the content, so it might be more of a risk to not have him there. That being said, often people need to be encouraged to ask questions and need the help of an experienced voice to tease info out, so perhaps they'll get an easier ride with fewer questions and more of a chance to waffle on uninterrupted

I rarely attend these things, tbh. I think I've only ever been to a couple over the years

'Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts are not available for selection as England's ODI tour against South Africa draws to a close on Sunday and therefore due to the schedule both won't return to the squad in time'.

Well Carse had a sore toe but Pott bowled 4 overs. He could have left Headingley this morning as he was not selected. Overton is playing for Somerset.

DCCC accounts have been published for period ending 30th Sept 2021.
Wages and Salaries amounted to £950,000 of which £350,000 was government furlough. This compares to a salary bill of £2.5 m pre-pandemic in 2018.
Does suggest that we're operating at a very low level of salary expenses compared with other counties.
Corrrespondingly, we presumably are also operating at a very low level of salaries offered to overseas players. Goes some way to explaining why our recent overseas have been so underwhelming. Maybe Mandinnson is here on buttons, as a mate of North, because we couldn't afford an expensive bowling alternate.
Contradiction in this parsimonious policy, however, is operating profit is tabled as £1m.

He's playing, late addition to the squad so, for once , common sense prevails.

Does seem odd to be in profit but not spending to strengthen the squad. The team today somehow looks light on batting and bowling!

indeed it does, but at least we've got nothing at stake. No relegation and no hope of promotion. Just a question of turning up until next season. Pleased to see McAlindon and Mackintosh retain their places and Bushnell come in at a sensible position.
