AJ Tye. Not exactly a like-for-like replacement for Turner (who is hoping to be fit later on in the group stages) but the bowling has been poor so should be useful. He's in tonight's squad so straight in at the deep end

Played for the second X1 about ten years ago according to Emmerson.
Seems as if he replaced Wood at this year's IPL but I don't know how much he played.
35 years old now - ageing fast bowler.

as per usual, the bright sparks at the fixture schedulers have given us 3 home games in 6 days, next week, so that'll suppress ticket sales..... which casual punters want to spend a fortune going 3 times in a week? They'll pick the one they fancy the most and pass on the other two. Good way to maximise revenue that...... not!

Exactly. It's ridiculous scheduling- almost makes me wonder if it's an attempt to marginalise the competition in order to focus on The 100. They'll probably point to declining ticket sales as a reason why The 100 is vital!

nah, they've done this for years, long before the Silly was still born. Then it was to cram T20 into the summer to get the big stars all playing, but they do have the Nonsense for that now, so I'd question why they don't give the counties what they want... a Friday night T20 once a fortnight all season long and let them use their existing overseas players or find others who don't mind playing once a week. One county, I forget which, has more than two OS players signed for the CC and they mix and match them depending on conditions. Might be Gloucs, not sure. Nothing to stop counties bringing in extra overseas players on season long or half season deals and using them where and when they offer the most value

I'd like to see him open the bowling with Anderson, but I have no doubt they'll do what they always do and wait until the batsmen are set before throwing the ball to the new guy and saying, "there you go, son, we've played them in, now make a name for yourself"

I also have no doubt that England will collapse in a heap with the bat and the press will point the finger at Potts coming in at 8 and make out like Overton would have scored a ton from that position and rescued everything. Twas ever thus
