Didn't go today but it sounds as if Borthwick and Bushnell did well in the face of some hostile bowling. The pitch must have quickened up? Both attacks looked pretty innocuous in the first innings.
When Bedingham went off - dislocated finger according to crickinfo- I was expecting the worst.

Killeen in the post match interview saying these pitches are " very, very good cricket wickets " Surely they are not?
He also said that Dickson is unlikely to be fit for the opening 50 over game- so why was he in the squad for this one?

emergency concussion sub, I reckon

If they are good for batting they are called 'good' pitches for some reason and these pitches are excellent for batting. Personally I think a good pitch has something in it for batters who bat well and bowlers who bowl well, but I'm clearly an idiot.

The point is...... the days of accurate, probing 70 odd mph bowling are over... no more wobbling deliveries taking edges... and it's by design, right from the very top, so we'd better develop some quick bowlers sharpish and bring in some decent spinners, because in the coming years, these are the only guys who'll take wickets. We both saw Pattinson snorting, pawing the ground and bending his back, taking wickets on a pitch that had virtually nothing in it for the bowler. Only Potts has come close to replicating that for us and we've lost him to England along with Carse, so we need to change the way we bring players through. Young lads are not going to bowl like that without injuring themselves until they've physically matured, so there's work to do

I guess if you're the bowling coach, throwing your hands up in the air and talking about 'good' pitches doesn't really help anyone but yourself

Surprised that Franklin sent out Killer for the post match interview. Usually he has to be pinned down to stop him from dashing out to front up to the media :coat

Exactly right. These types of pitches are good if there are genuinely quick bowlers and good spinners. Most teams don't have those types so we're not alone in struggling to get wickets. Young Stanley looks lively, think he's got a lot of potential.

yet if Carse hadn't bruised his toe we'd have dropped McAlindon. We're playing for nothing in the CC, so it's an ideal opportunity to invest some time in him.

I hope it was useful practice, because losing to Lincolnshire is not a good look otherwise

we decided to play with 4 batsmen in the side, a Franklin plan perhaps, and didn't make it to the 38th over, so that's nice.

Mark Footitt was playing for Lincs. I haven't heard that name for a while

Yes, was a strange loss too. Just looking at the scorecard makes me wonder if they were just too complacent, it should have been a straightforward chase and even with a top and middle order wobble we should have made it
MIddlesex and Surrey lost too so we maybe shouldn't read too much into it but I'm not confident we'll do well in this competition despite last year's campaign.

Neither have I.
Jones away with Scotland so hopefully he will be back soon and Bedders injured so once again the threadbare squad is exposed.
I'm not sure what our approach to this competition will be but my view is we should play the strongest available side and that would include Eckersley and Salisbury, they may both be leaving but we don't have a strong enough squad to just play a load of rookies.

well, after making last years final, I'd imagine they'll want to do well, but I struggle to see how. Last year Lees and Clark gave us start after start. There won't be any Lees and Clark's form in the T20 fell off a cliff, so we need Dicko back to open if he's fit again, and he may not be, it's a big ask to come in and pick up where he left off

Yes, it doesn't bode well! Killer in charge of this campaign so when if it all goes wrong we can't blame Franklin!

Was thinking we might need 400 with today's bowling options- will be lucky to get 150 as things stand.
