Quite an interesting forum. The Murphy signing is still on but he has a couple of niggles! North said we have signed Matt Kuhnemann as his temporary replacement.

I suspect "the few niggles" are Aussies not wanting him to play all 7 CC games prior to the ashes

I think so - he was playing on the Shield final a few days ago.
Most of the evening was Borthwick and North talking with confidence about the season- egged on by Ash Thorpe.
They seemed to be saying there are so many talented plsyers coning through it'll be hard to fit them all in...and according to Thorp there are a couple of highly promising fast bowling all rounders aged 17 who he is sure will do great things when their time comes.
Also apologises for poor communication- seems as if they had one person taking care of everything. There's going to be a meet the players event during the first home game.
Franklin wasn't mentioned by name but Borthwick and Notth implied the negative approach last year was hos fault!

I think they were also saying that from now on all communication will be via email so the usual letters due out will not be sent- cost saving exercise.
McAlindon and Mitch Killeen are recovering from injury- think North or Thorp said the latter is playing as a batsman in the Yorkshire friendly
North also said that the counties are trying to get players ij The 100 released back to their clubs if - like Raine last year - they are on the sidelines.

Thanks-very informative. Notice McAlinden didn't bowl today either. Let's hope the optimism is well founded. Franklin certainly seemed to have a negative effect all-round.

Yes, North and Borthwick were always going to talk things up but they did seem genuine in their optimism - time will tell if they are right!
The hotel got a mention too - very promising developments according to North! Although he did make a wry comment about it being closer to getting the go ahead than at any point in the last 20 years!

Any mention at the forum of DeLeede's recent absences?
Prospects bleak at Headingley but amusing comment on their website
– More news on the fox, who scurried across the outfield, had a wee on the frame of the nets and – having realised there would be no play – exited stage left through the Western Terrace.
Didn't realise Yorkis did humour.

Very good!

He was mentioned by North as someone he feels can succeed in red ball cricket. He didn't mention his absences but it seems to be a heel injury.

Kuhnemann confirmed. For the season, seemingly. The article also says we hope that Murphy will join us after the ashes, but how that is possible, I haven't worked out. SLA apparently. I've long held the belief that we should make a spinner one of our first overseas priorities, so I hope this works out well.

You're allowed they've more than 2 overseas but can only play 2 in an particular game. Presumably we've been given a BOGOF offer from Cricket Australia.

well... is this hope for Murphy a sign that we are considering using this season to move away from Beddingham now that he's moved on from England?

Gloucestershire have carried 3 OS players for a couple of years. They somehow persuaded Zafar Gohar to sign for 2 seasons on a pay as you play deal and just brought him into the side when presented with flat decks. They've signed him properly now, but I doubt that we have money to pay for 3 overseas players when only 2 can play at any one time. Mumbai Indians or Surrey we are not

I think the Kuhnemann announcement has probably been badly worded. At the forum North said they had signed Murphy but Kuhnemann would deputise until he was available.
