Nearly time to start thinking about pre-season

I have no idea what our plans are to get ready for the new season, so I hope Campbell/North et al do

There was a time when I used to re-write songs in honour of the new season, but it's hard to get motivated these days

rumour has it that the Durham management have spent the whole winter studying a whole range of different approaches to adopt as their 'team style' for the new season

I imagine this is what they probably settled upon

This approach came a close second, so if plan A turns out to be too unrealistically professional, then expect to see us going back to a more comfortable approach, after all we've done this for several seasons so everyone understands their role

403-8 dec in 60 odd overs

at tea Southerns were 121-7, still 188 runs behind

I don't know whether we can still bat again... it is a warm up match after all and there are still 4 sessions remaining

Leede has been batting and bowling, yet I notice that he's only ever played one FC match in his career, so perhaps he might keep Coughlin out of the side. Coughlin didn't bat and is being carted atm

You're right not much bowling required. Will this be the bowling once the season starts? Wood might get a game or two and Stokes not at all. I wonder how Rushworth will do at Warks.

not quite sure what to make of all that, really.

We won by an innings and 145 after declaring 8 down. Now, clearly we haven't picked an 'XI' to play in the game because we used 12 players in all, and the match ended within 2 days, so given that Bushnell didn't get a bat, why did we declare 8 down? It just doesn't make much sense to me. I'd have thought that it would have done some good to get him some middle time

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps he was ill or something

Oh well.... I'm sure we know what we're doing :panic

Woody never gets a game in case he picks up an injury and, as you point out, Stokes almost certainly won't either

Potts, Raine and Carse will have to do the heavy lifting for much of the season, (ashes, Ireland and lions permitting for Potts and Carse). If de Leede is a genuine all rounder, then that frees up a slot for a spinner (presumably Trevaskis, who can also hold a bat)

Batting looks settled now that Lees is back, especially with Robinson in as a keeper batting at 5. de Leede or Coughlin at 7 leaves a straight bun fight between Clark and Bushnell at 6

With Lees and Potts in the side the line up looks half competitive, but take them out and we look a bit threadbare (not for the first time). I'm not sure if the lions are scheduled for anything. Sept is ODI month, but that should only affect us if Carse gets called up

Wood will be at the IPL as well. Maybe he won't need a red ball game. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/the- ... nt-1361952.

Main bowlers sound good Potts, Raine and Carse. Only a month to go.

With Bushnell being in Australia I fear Campbell won’t be aware of his capabilities, certainly not his bowling ability hence his exclusion but Clark caught his eye during the winter, hence he’s been preferred.Although the club hasn’t revealed Miller signing I assume he has. He should keep one end at least tight which means we won’t be over reliant on seam.

I had actually forgotten about Murphy signing for the first 7 games

so I suppose we appear to be looking at this

Lees
Jones
Numpty
Bedingham
Robinson
Trevaskis/Bushnell/Clark
Coughlin/de Leede
Raine
Carse
Potts
Murphy

with decisions needed to be made in the middle order

the rest of the Zim tour matches are T20's according to crapinfo, but strangely each of the two innings are scheduled to last 3 hours 30 mins, so your guess is as good as mine
