there have been some really good, tight matches this year. Whether that's the points reduction for a draw, I couldn't say. Maybe it's part of the Stokes/McCullum effect and more teams are looking to score a bit more quickly, or maybe it's just down to the poor Spring we're having

the bbc have been pushing Smith v Labu as the match up of this round, but as usual, they are completely wrong. The big match up is Robinson v Neser.

Robbo's 4-29 helped Sussex scythe through the Glammy batting order in double quick time and now Neser has a couple in the reply including the prized wicket of Pujara for a blob. Neser more expensive, but that won't matter if he rips out Smith as well.

Sussex gonna struggle to screw this up.

Northants are having a dog of a match and there seems to be something very odd going on down there. It seems to be driven by the coach (is he new?). Their form in the CC is underwhelming, but on paper they look like a strong T20 outfit, with Willey returning and the signings of Lynn and Tye to bolster an already capable looking T20 team. The last minute announcement that Cobb was to be replaced with Willey, seems like an act of self harm to me. Cobb's form was terrific last year and he now seems to be so distraught over the decision that, if he plays at all now, his performances might not be anywhere near where they might have been

I may be reading the situation at Northants all wrong, but we had bloody James Franklin dragging us down as coach and these are exactly the sorts of bloody stupid decisions (or perfectly reasonable decisions done in a totally cack handed way) that he would have made. You only have to look at our first season without him so see what a suddenly happy, relaxed and contended dressing room is capable of.

Cobb, by all accounts has been planning this year's T20 campaign all winter, only to have it ripped away from him just before the start of the competition. If I was Durham's management I'd be trying to sign Cobb on loan for the Dribble with a view to bringing him north next year
