No idea why Sussex declared. 1 wicket left, so may not have amounted to much of an extra lead to bat on, but with 107 left for Northants to bat out for a draw, you'd have thought they'd have continued to try to extend that lead as far as possible.

I hope that the score at Lords isn't an indication that the groundstaff of the MCC have gone back to that period in the 2000s when the Lord's wicket was just a pancake. 620/3 plays 530/8 really feels that way.
