I've doubled checked. And it's not 1926. When incidentally, Ernie Tyldesley's Lancashire won the CC- the first of a hattrick of wins. Weirdly, the counties played a different number of matches and the table was decided by points/game percentage!
Yorks begin tomorrow with a relegation clash vs. Glamorgan.

Tyldesley was also part of England's Ashes winning side that summer, taking the last Test at the Oval, which was timeless, after bowling the Aussies out on day 5 for 125, on a sticky wicket. Wilf Rhodes took 4-44.

Twas a fast start.... they went off like a train, but the rate seems to have dropped back a bit
