London thread - Surrey & Middlesex

Postby mikesiva » Sat Apr 09, 2011 11:51 am

I'm concerned about Chris Jordan, who seems to be going nowhere at Surrey, after joining the club with so much promise, as a Barbadian youngster recruited by the club. And with Ramps out with injury until late May, the batting looks a bit short of quality....
:scared
Interestingly, although Corey Collymore can no longer hold a place in the Windies side, and even the Barbados side, he's still a decent county cricket performer. Any thoughts as to how well he'll do for Middlesex this season?

Corey performed brilliantly for Sussex last season, and no reason to doubt he'll be an asset to The Middle this.
Not likely to feature so much in the oneday format, but hopefully play in most championship fixtures.
His workload will probably not be so strenuous as it was last season with plenty of quality support at Middlesex .he'll not be expected to bear the brunt of the attack.
Surrey do not seem to have recruited as wisely as 'The Middle' this winter and look likely to continue to struggle as you suggest Mik.
Middlesex to finish first or second,Surrey no better than fifth or sixth.

You can celebrate the Royal Wedding in style with live cricket and a special street-style party at Lord's on Friday 29 April. :party

The wedding will be shown live on a giant screen in the beautiful Harris Gardens while on the field Middlesex take on Surrey in the third day of their LV County Championship clash.

Entry tickets for the day are just £15 for adults, £7.50 for over 65s and kids are free.

Each adult ticket can be also kept and used to gain free entry to either of the Clydesdale Bank 40 matches taking place at Lord’s on 1 and 2 May.
A selection of party food and drink will be available.

You and your friends can soak up the atmosphere all day as the celebrations and the cricket continue through the afternoon and on into the evening. :pint :pint :pint

The marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton is a once in a generation event and the perfect excuse to enjoy a day of celebration at Lord’s. :joydance :joydance :joydance

So no need to miss all the excitement of The Royal nuptials whilst watching Middleses probably putting one over their South London rivals. :clap :clap :clap

A predictably disappointing start to Surrey's season as they fail to get off to a winning start against unfancied Northants at The KIa Ora Stadium. :no

Middlesex were simply awesome today, great bowling added to brilliant catching and fielding almost ensured a two day win, just fify odd needed in the morning.
A hugley inspiring performance which should leave all other contenders in this division quaking in their boots.
Bring on 'The Rey'! :clap :clap :clap

First match for Collymore, and his returns were okay-ish, I guess....

Good to see the old man of West Indies cricket still has it to compete at this level.

I hope he ups his game for the next match.

Corey was the division's leading wicket taker last season mik,so no reason to doubt he was up for it.
He was menacing throughout ,but a bout of cramp yesterday meant he didn't bowl very much in the second dig.
He's fine today.

Table topping Middlesex cannot wait to take on 'The Rey' on Wednesday.
After their excellent start to their promotion campaign ,confidence is sky high, and The Sarf Lodoners will do well to stave off defeat against The Rampant Middle this week.

Thye two clash at Lord's tomorrow, and with 'The Middle's' confidence sky high after their 100% start to the season, and likely to name an unchanged squad,The Ovalites will be quacking in their boots as they cross the river to take on their neighbours.
An inexperienced squad yet to win a match this term will do well to escape a three day hammering.

Gareth Berg has a strained side and is replaced by Steven Crook in the squad to face Surrey tomorrow,

Middlesex are giving Surrey a hammering....

Good to see Jordan finally getting a game, after a season ravaged by injury last year. Only one wicket for him, so far.
