This football tournament is currently being held in Trinidad....

http://www.fifa.com/u17womensworldcup/s ... index.html

Nigeria tops Group A with a maximum six points, while North Korea and Trinidad have each won one game and lost one.

Germany and South Korea have won both of their matches to sit at the top of Group B, while Spain also has maximum points in Group C. Japan and Venezuela have three points from two games each.

But Group D is the group of death. All four teams have won one match, and lost one. Ireland, Ghana, Canada and mighty Brazil are in that group!

I have only seen the highlight of one match between Trinidad and Nigeria and without a doubt those Nigerian girls looked superb and could get into the second round of the male's WC. This is no over statement. I will be streaming one of those Trini channels later today if there are any matches being played.

Japan is about to take on the Venezuelans tonight. Venezuela is weakened a bit since Maria Carrera is not playing tonight.

The Japanese keeper failed to hold on to the ball just in front of the goal but the Venezuelans failed to take advantage...

Tanaka makes it two nil for Japan- a perfect shot, right into the vee, giving the desperate diving keeper no chance whatsoever!

Hosts TNT suffered a 1-0 loss to North Korea on Sunday which sealed their exit from the tournament. Nigeria hammered Chile 5-0 in their final encounter of their grouping.

In the U17 World Cup in Trinidad, I watched the semi-final between Spain and one of the Koreas, and the Asian team outplayed the European to reach the final with a 2-1 victory....
